If he would have not come forward, you have the physical manifestation of what some call a miracle, which the world desperately needs right now with so much true evil manifest around us daily.

Do not despair. The timing of Father Dowling's appearance at the accident scene and the courage and strength he conveyed in a grave moment of need to the injured and to the rescue workers is every bit a miracle story. God was working his miracles at this accident scene. There are many servants of God among us who, consciously or subconsciously, are moved to respond to God's calling to perform good deeds for humanity every day. They are God's servants doing his will and they walk among us.

How is his coming forward a disservice to the church? I don’t see it that way at all.

Who quipped the famous quote: “As a man thinketh, so is he.”???

When we take pictures at our fire scenes we purposely try and avoid taking pictures that will identify personnel at the scene. No big surprise he was not seen on any of the photographs.

Its not about a “phony” miracle story.
the church is to stand for the truth...and this priest came forward in the name of honesty and humility..and attested to the power of prayer and reminded us of the Love of God.
I think THAT helps the church..

Yup, doesn't look much like Walter Matthau to me, LOLOL.
Like I said when the article first appeared, didn't matter if it was a priest or angel, they all prayed and the girl was rescued.
That's what counted, more than enough reason to give thanks to the Lord.

Yes, but no mater how much a colorblind man thinks about color, wavelengths, optical power, rainbows, he will not think himself into the experience of red.

He should have come forward sooner and put to rest the rumors and exaggerated stories.

Eh? You deliberately avoid taking pictures that could identify an arsonist?
Why is that?

But you CAN think yourself into faith. After the brain, then it will go to the heart, and from there into your actions.
I repeat: “As a man thinketh, so is he.”

All the magic Christians out there are so disappointed that it was just a priest doing what priests dedicate their lives to doing.
Ghosts are so much more fun than reality.

So, you are advocating him lying about his involvement? Yeah, that’s a good idea for a priest.
I think that he did a fine job, as did all of the first responders. He brought peace to the woman in trouble. THAT is his job; not trying to manifest a miracle. There are miracles around us every day. You just have to be open to them.

he has done somewhat of a disservice to the church. If he would have not come forward, you have the physical manifestation of what some call a miracleEven if it's false? A good man did what was right. Consider that miracle enough.
