I loved hearing this story last week and hearing it with the mystery solved has brought tears to my eyes again! Either answer, whether it had been an angel or simply a priest would have been a wonderful outcome! At this moment in time, Fr. Dowling was an angel sent by God to this woman!
To: NYer
It wasn’t an angel, and it wasn’t a mystery. Just a priest doing what a priest would do in the circumstances.

You must remember, there were many people praying there, many, many people
and they were all praying obviously for healing and for her safety. I was probably part of the answer to their prayers... There is something precious about realizing you have been used in answer to someone's prayer, or used by God in some fashion. Maybe you yourself didn't do anything special, but you fulfilled a role and God made use of it. Its cool when it happens.

As much as I appreciate what he did.for the young woman and the rescue workers, he has done somewhat of a disservice to the church. If he would have not come forward, you have the physical manifestation of what some call a miracle, which the world desperately needs right now with so much true evil manifest around us daily.

I did not say anything like the machinery would begin to work or they would succeed in getting her out of the car.
That did not come from my lips, though two people heard it.
Interesting twist.

I understand the sentiment, but Jesus is Truth. There is no place for deception in His Church, either by ommission or commission, regardless of the motivation.

The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say. (paraphrasing) I'm an agnostic, I've had an event in my life that could fairly be described by that sentence.

“Interesting twist.”
Also that he was described as having olive skin and a thick, unrecognizable accent.

As I said, I was paraphrasing a quote from the Bible. Christ was sending out the apostles.
Want to rethink that agnostic point of view?
My husband did, and we brought up our five children in the Catholic Church.

I've been blessed with the opportunity to be the angel on a lonely road a time or two, and also have had my family members tell me of being saved by an angel themselves. It is indeed a win-win situation. We can all do God's work if we allow Him into our hearts.
