This is very true that most atheists are leftists and I can’t understand why. They rightly reject a belief in god based on a lack of rational justification but they accept the idea that we are our brothers keeper without any rational justification. They embrace welfare statism and egalitarianism when there is no rational justification for them. They reject the belief in God but accept the altruism preached by religion. That is why I don’t belong to any atheist organizations and won’t. I find an equally strange dichotomy with religious conservatives. They are pro capitalism and individual rights and are against welfare statism and egalitarianism but they embrace the altruist morality that they are based on and that their religion promotes and which is incompatible with capitalism IMO.

And yes we conservative atheists are very rare eggs in my experience.

They rightly reject a belief in god...

Ahem. So rejecting a belief in God (note the capitalization which you prefer not to use) is right. Four letters:

IBTZ

This thread is getting very revealing.

You really don’t understand religion or conservatism.

The Christians that created America wanted small government, the less the better, the Christians would take care of the rest, the atheists and liberals, and anti-Christians want government to run everything.

Jesus spoke to us to take care of our neighbors as individuals, to reveal what is inside of us individually, not to do the opposite, and turn that over to government workers and the tax system, the government isn’t a “brother’s keeper”, that is why it is anti-God, and anti-Christian.

Capitalism is seen as the most moral of economic systems, you seem to see it as immoral, and socialism as moral, while you probably like capitalism yourself, in general, atheists are only interested in short term gain, so they vote democrat to loot what they can today, and to live as they want, for today, with no concern of the future, welfare doesn’t help the poor, it destroys them, but it serves as a power and wealth base for the left while at the same time, pushing out Christian charity.

You sound young, or as though you come from a liberal background.

You know nothing about God. He asked for His sheep to be fed by their brothers, NOT government. We are to take care of one another. Our rights come from God, not government. They only take them away. Try feeding your family fish or game without a license. Government took that right away, not God. A properous man is to share his wealth with widows and orphans but not the lazy.

What in that do you disagree with?
