Who do these men share a faith in in common?
If your confusion is over magic beads used in pointless ritual. You should have rather seen it as a good thing Francis removed some "magic beads" from the casket.
But you just want to insist on casting this in the worst light I see.
I think this would have been on MY list of things NOT to tell anyone!
Of course, not all religious take a vow of poverty.
And does a crucifix constitute something that even a non-vowed religious would insist on “keeping”?
How about the special significance that is happening at that funeral? The cultural differences that exist in an area of the world not in the USA.
How about the significant differences shared between religious as opposed to those who are not?
Pope Francis, admitting that he stole it.
"""And immediately there came to mind the thief we all have inside ourselves and while I arranged the flowers I took the cross and with just a bit of force I removed it," he said, showing with his hands how he pulled the cross off the rosary.""
Want to bet that he arranged the rosary to conceal that it was missing the stolen cross?
The most outrageous act can be done by a Catholic and some other Catholics will come along and defend or excuse it away.
Not all Catholics are falling for the Jesuit imposter. Too many, but not all.
>>Of course, not all religious take a vow of poverty.<<
Then why did you twice imply they did?
>>And does a crucifix constitute something that even a non-vowed religious would insist on keeping?<<
I would think so, especially if he asked to buried with his beloved rosary? How do you, or Francis, know he didn’t. How often do you rip apart rosaries of others, whether they’re living or dead?

What in the heck does cultural differences have to do with robbing the dead?
>>How about the significant differences shared between religious as opposed to those who are not?<<
How about it? Are you saying religious are allowed to rob their own dead, unlike laymen?
By their doctrine Pope Francis sent a brother priest to Purgatory with an incomplete rosary.
Nice anigif. Probably what the funeral director was doing when he found out someone ‘nicked’ the priests rosary.
For the record (my own) I have no opinion on this.
This defense of nicking a rosary is simply amazing. This is like MSNBC defending Obama.
>>Then why did you twice imply they did?<<
Do you know all the circumstances? Same question. If you don’t know, I’m asking “why all the judgment?”
>>I would think so, especially if he asked to buried with his beloved rosary? How do you, or Francis, know he didnt. How often do you rip apart rosaries of others, whether theyre living or dead?<<
Once again, how do you know?

These are points to be considered. You do not know the nature of the relationship between these two, or the place the once worked together in, but you are very comfortable casting stones.
Over on another thread, we're hearing tales of FRoman Catholics who have taken the rosary out of their own mothers' coffins. Do you suppose their mothers took vows of poverty, too?
I’m not sure the last three popes even believe / believed in Purgatory. Just about every time someone (e.g. Br Roger of Taize) died, they immediately announced that person was in Heaven.
I know the nature between my wife and I, I certainly will not rip apart the rosary in her hands, should she die before me.
They do work together a lot. That is how I learned respect for the deceased. Once they are prepared the items stay in the casket.
Thanks for that. Men always love to hear about sharp objects near the private area.
What are the circumstances? We are talking about family in grief. There are differences.
This is certainly not the same as stealing a few thousand dollars, or the reputation of someone.

So he still carries the stolen item?
