What Does it Mean to Have Your Marriage Blessed?

Q: My daughter stopped practicing her faith and was married to a protestant in his church. Now she has come back, and her protestant husband is preparing to become a Catholic too, next Easter. They understand that their marriage isn’t valid in the eyes of the Catholic Church, but the parish priest told them he can just “bless their marriage” and it will be all right. Can that possibly be true? –Eamon

As with all things however, once the size of the Christian assemblies grew larger than a modern day support group the process had to be streamlined.

There goes the 'church' that Jesus founded on Peter!

It's just not practical in a congregation of 2 or 3 thousand to have everyone confessing their grievous sins during Mass...

Golly!!

Acts 2:41
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Why would one not love the mother of Christ? What possible benefit could it bring?

Why would one not call the mother of Jesus blessed; like the BIBLE says; and leave it at that? What possible benefit could it bring to WASTE so much time trying to get her to ADVOCATE for you?

It would be impossible to love Mary more than Christ did, but we Catholics try.

CAn you show us just how much Jesus loved His mother?

Luke 2:48-51

48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them.

John 2:3-4

3 When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
4 [And] Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.”

Once again, Christ loved His mother with perfection because He is Lord. That’s all you really need to know, Elsie. You’re complicating matters. And, as an invitation to all, there are no exploding heads in adoration chapels. They come for healing, to find peace from Jesus, not to taunt. And while there, one can visit with Mary too, as she's never far from her Son. :)

>>Read about Fatima, Lourdes and Guadalupe too.<<

I’ve read all about them.

>>Beautiful miracles from Jesus to us through His mother.<<

Not a chance. Those who have passed from this life are no longer active or interactive with this life. No where in scripture are we told that those who have passed are in any way interactive with us or anything happening in this physical world. Now Satan can make things look like they came from Jesus to draw people into paganism.

2 Corinthians 11:14 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

>>If only Catholics put half the effort into following Jesus that they put into following Mary and spend half the time praying to the Father and paying attention to Him that they spend on Mary. It would revolutionize their spiritual lives in a way that is beyond their comprehension.<<

Amen and Amen! Jesus told us to go directly to the Father in His name. He died on that cross and the veil was torn in two giving us that access. It’s totally disrespectful to Jesus praying to Mary and the Saints.

Circle conversations on Free Republic are a waste of precious time (and I also think not good for one's mental health), and this one is entering that stage. God love you. Enjoy your Son-day.

"Do whatever he tells you."

Yup...

NOT the way today's RCC teaching puts it:

"HE'll do whatever I ask Him to do."

I’m stunned that you so crassly send me to a prayer from Catholics to some so called saint asking her to “comfort all who”. Here’s the quote from the prayer.

“Confident in thy powerful intercession, we beseech thee, Saint Dymphna to comfort all who, burdened by mental anguish or confusion, struggle daily to make their way in this valley of tears.” (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3128170/posts)

What utter blasphemy! The Holy Spirit is the comforter for true believers.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:26 and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.

Replacing the Holy Spirit with some so called saint won’t turn out well for Catholics.

Once again, Christ loved His mother with perfection because He is Lord.

He loves everyone with perfection because He is Lord.

God is no respecter of persons. Those who do His will will hear *Well done, thou good and faithful servant* no matter what they do.

We are responsible to do what God calls us to do, not to do what He has called others to do.

So we’re to obey Mary? What about obeying God?

HE told us what to do as well. Isn’t that good enough that we obey God because He said so? Mary has to put her two cents in and Catholic obey Jesus because Mary said so not God?

Whatever happened to.....

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

With Catholics, it's anyone but Jesus.

That’s the truth. Jesus is an afterthought. They pretend they are going through the so called saints or Mary but when you read the prayers posted online it becomes obvious that they expect those so called saints or Mary to grant or do. It’s really sad to think that there are so many who have been duped into believing a lie. They think they are doing something good when in reality they are simply following pagan rituals.

Elsie! It is good to hear from you. It has been too long. I hope all has been well with you.

a strong advocate: (as explained to me by a life-long Catholic) There are those(ie: Mary, Saints) who are favored by God. By praying to them, the intent/hope is that they will include you in their prayers, because their prayers are better received.

I am not Catholic, and there are many doctrines I don't know, many I misunderstand, and many I disagree with. It would be rude for me to speak for them.

Therefore, this is not a practice for me to defend or argue. Personally, it appears blasphemous.

How is your friend Colofornian? I have not seen him/her in a while. Do you know if all is well?

It really is good to hear from you.

God didn’t change His mind. Jesus is God after all.

God and Jesus..the same, yet at the same time, not the same. A truly sophisticated subject, any discussion of which becomes lengthy, then argumentative, and ultimately weakening to our faith.

God cannot die, yet Jesus did.

It was not the only occasion where God changed His mind. God promised He would never again flood the planet, and wipe out virtually everything.
