The Ugliest Churches In The World
Catholic Vote ^ | July 11, 2014 | JOHN WHITE

Posted on 07/12/2014 2:56:37 PM PDT by NYer

A little something for the weekend.

Over at Real Clear Religion, Nicholas G. Hahn III has a slideshow of the ugliest churches in the world. They represent several denominations, but the vast majority are – you guessed it – Roman Catholic.

Below are just a few of these architectural miscarriages, all of them Catholic. See the rest here.

I am very familiar with the 4th one down...It’s a Catholic church...Inside looks just like the outside...Give you the feeling the walls are going to fall on you...Weird...

To Cincinnati’s eternal shame, our own Solid Rock Church tops the list. God thought the 50-ft. statue of Jesus so hideous, he struck it with lightning http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/9786. These chuckleheads actually had the effrontery to rebuild it.

At night, when the moon is full, it is said people can hear the sound of marching, and the haunting sound of soldiers, singing in step..."Ooo - eeeee - hoo! Yooo - ho! Ooo - eeeee - hoo! Yooo - ho!"

This is the statue outside the offices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (usccb.org). It's readily visible to people that drive northbound on 4th Street N.W. headed toward Catholic University. The locals refer to it as "Jesus hailing a cab".

Very funny site. If I were King I would chain the architects in a prison built entirely of spheres. Watch them go crazy.

Those horrible homes. Basically human packaging.

This is Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC. It is a giant diadem, kinda neat, I think:

Reminds me of the Christ the King statue in Lisbon:

It was pretty magnificent!

I have no idea how St. Mary's in San Francisco, Christ the Light in Oakland, and Guardian Angel in Vegas made it on the list and this cathedral didn't:

Our Lady of the Angels, Los Angeles.

Pray for earthquake.

Seems that a few years ago lightening struck "touchdown Jesus" or as comedian Dave Chappel referred 'big butter Jesus'

Also seems that a replacement vwas constructed

If the cross was not there, it could easy be mistaken for a shopping mall.
