Dolan is wrong... and is using an argument of semantics to justify his need to be honored ( rather than seeking humility)
His first point is correct the decision is not his to make. As he concedes he does have the ability to decline the invitation to participate. The people who carry the LGBT banner are not just “sharing an identity” they are active participants in a deviant and perverted lifestyle. How many of these banner carriers does he really think abstain from sex? No, they are advertising their active engagement in perversion not innocently announcing some genetic glitch they possess. Why would you carry a banner to celebrate something you don’t participate in?
What will he say if these innocent but misunderstood people participate in gay orgies for all to see, during this parade?
Satan tempted Jesus in the desert with dominion over Earth if He would bow down to him... apparently Dolan has taken him up on it and forgotten to imitate Christ.
I would not think it to be a matter of pride, or a condition to be published enthusiastically, that one suffers under the inclination to abuse one’s own life and body and that of others, but rather a condition for which one would humbly, daily, repent and seek forgiveness; not only for this but also toward all matters of faith and life where walk is contrary to Word. Really, is it proper to make one’s weakness the subject of parading about?

It would have been more understandable if Dolan had rejected the offer on principle rather than accept it in the pride of his conceit. The cardinal needs to reflect on the meaning of Christ-like humility, in my opinion.
Being grand marshall of a big parade is really cool and dope. Why let anything get in the way. Cardinals don’t have much opportunity for fun. Don’t y’all rain on his parade with that sin stuff.
I believe that morality does enter into this picture, however.
