You can have a Buddhists, Daoists, Confuscianists, Mohammedans, Pagans, Hindus, Sikhs, Voodoun, or any other as-yet-to-be-defined theoologies, such as Mormonism nation. But you cannot have a Christian nation because the Christian faith is founded upon an individual response to the Gospel, not legislated forcefully.

It is never permissible to have such a surface-level, legalistic, theocratic-government-forced dead moralistic Christian nation. The question was a rhetorical one. When I said it was impossible to have a Christian nation in this day and age I meant generally, as in since the Mosaic Law, not 21st century, etc. So would it be fair to categorize OT Israel as being a surface-level, legalistic, theocratic-government-forced dead moralistic Jewish nation? And was it so because they followed God's commands, or because they didn't?

Whatever the case may be, we do know that a lot of Roman Catholics around here would like to see a Catholic Monarchy established.

And we do know that a lot of Roman Catholics around here would like to see the Inquisitions reestablished. Looking over my list, there's a great deal of crossover between those two groups.
I wonder how these beliefs have influenced the members of both lists to vote in presidential and mid-term elections?

Maybe some people find comfort in thinking of America as a "Christian nation", thinking they'll be spared from God's judgment because they say "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, or because the Ten Commandments are posted in government buildings. The Jews of Jesus' day made a similar mistake.
The best way to preserve Christianity from a political perspective is for freedom of religion.
Laws guaranteeing "freedom of religion" have never been necessary for the gospel to be preached and for Christ's disciples to serve Him.
In the histories and letters that comprise the New Testament, where do read about freedom of religion? Or perhaps a better question is, where do we NOT find persecution, tribulation, affliction borne by Christians?

That is true, Christians have historically shone the brightest in the face of persecution. But this doesn’t mean we should invite persecution.
Saying no to persecution (religious liberty) isn’t the same as legislating the Christian faith to non-believers.

"And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw nigh unto me, and with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which hath been taught them;" - Isaiah 29:13 See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?

Our freedom as a nation , of which we pledge allegiance as "One nation UNDER GOD, did not come without a price....nor is it maintained without a price.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil.
And when the ruler becomes a terror to good works, what then?
