Oh yes! Mother Teresa, love her. We did Come Be My Light with a prayer group once. We enjoyed it so much, we almost didn’t finish by the end of the year because we were so absorbed by it.

LOL, that is so true. They’d come in like they had just wiped out the Dairy Queen and they took everything literally. I tend to be sarcastic so I had to work on that.

I felt the same way about our Pope Emeritus' middle volume of Jesus of Nazareth. Very heavy going. Very worthwhile, but very heavy going. The other two volumes were a much easier read (of course they covered less ground and less complex ground).

But I did the same thing - read a couple of pages, and then put it down and thought about it awhile.

I can't help wondering if it's partly the translation though.

I have not read it since 2000. I perhaps need to re-read it. I have a tendency to re-read books every so many years.

I haven't read it yet. I am reading a short book, but very sacramental 7 Secrets of the Eucharist by Vinny Flynn.

In my estimation it belongs in every Adoration Chapel. He quotes a lot from St. Faustina and from the CCC.

It's got the Ingres "Our Lady and the Holy Eucharist" on the cover, so that's a good start . . .

. . . and it comes highly recommended by Fr. Groeschel (may he rest in peace) and Cardinal Pell . . . that's good too!

Scripture references regarding Purgatory can be found in The Cathechism of the Catholic Church, CCC 1030-1033, footnotes 606 - 611.

They can also be found here - http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12575a.htm#III

Please don’t tell Catholics what to believe.

The good thief asked for forgiveness. He was granted his request because he had a Baptism of Desire/Baptism of Blood.

Please check out those two terms and find out what they mean.

Another thing — Paradise was a waiting place where all the good people from the Old Testament were waiting for Jesus Christ to be the first one into heaven. It was NOT heaven.

Was your comment directed to my suggestion that Christ may have granted a plenary indulgence?
