ISTANBUL (AP) — Pope Francis stood Saturday for two minutes of silent prayer facing east in one of Turkey's most important mosques, a powerful vision of Christian-Muslim understanding at a time when neighboring countries are experiencing violent Islamic assault on Christians and religious minorities.

I selected current events. The description was “religion or religious news of the day”. Just post whatever you have. I’m sure it will be fine.

I didn’t say I wanted it to happen. All I am saying is that Frances knows not who he is dealing with.

Evangelization?? Lol, i thought he declared that utter nonsense.

I would love to be wrong, but has this “pope” ever declared publicly that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and NO ONE comes to the Father but thru Him?

It doesn’t say, but I doubt it. As you say, that would have offended his hosts. It does say “His head bowed, eyes closed and hands clasped in front of him.”

He did declare that proselytism was solemn nonsense.

No, the nonsense is proselytism. Two entirely different things.

Well, I guess we can be grateful he didn’t pull out a prayer rug and get on all fours facing Mecca in a total humiliation for the remnant which still holds the historic Christian Faith.

You’re right. They are two different things. Proselytism is what the Catholic Church did prior to Vatican II. The Modernists decided that the Church took part in nonsense for hundreds of years.

Proselytism means to convert people, to bring unbelievers to faith in Christ. Real Popes used to bless and encourage missionaries to do such work, in fact Jesus Christ commands it in Matthew 28. This guy calls it nonsense.

EVANGELIZATION

Zealous proclamation of the Gospel in order to bring others to Christ and his Church. In the words of Pope Paul VI, "Evangelizing means to bring the Good News into all the strata of humanity, and through its influence transforming humanity from within and making it new, 'Now I am making the whole of creation new' (Revelation 21:5). But there is no new humanity if there are not first of all new persons renewed by baptism, and by lives lived according to the Gospel" (Evangelii Nuntiandi, 18). Evangelization, therefore, includes three distinctive elements: 1. interior conversion to Christ and his Church; 2. affecting not only the individual person but the whole culture; and 3. as a result, changing this culture and its institutions to make them Christian and Catholic. (Etym. Latin evangelium; from Greek euangelion, good news, reward for bringing good news, from euangelos, bringing good news: eu-, good, + angelos, messenger.)

PROSELYTIZE

Originally to convert someone from one religion to another, either by bringing a person to full acceptance of the new faith and ritual or at least sympathy with it. The more common meaning, however, is to induce people to change their religious affiliation by using unfair and even unscrupulous means. (Etym. Greek pros_lytos, to convert to Judaism; literally, one who has arrived.)

I doubt that Popes urged people to use unscrupulous means to convert people. Please read the two definitions. Very different.

Reminds me of what Hitler said after meeting Chamberlain in Munich.....

“Our enemies are little worms, I saw them in Munich.”

That’s what muzzies think of this Pope.

So this guy invents a new definition that is not found in any English dictionary to try and cover up the “nonsense” uttered by this pope?

In the Gospel of Mark we read of Jesus’s fight over obeying Jewish law with two healings of Gentiles. Jesus travels to two cities in what is now Lebanon. Mark tells the story of the Syrophoenician woman who finds Jesus at a friend’s house in Tyre and begs him to heal her demon possessed daughter. Jesus then goes to the Decapolis and comes across a crippled man who is deaf and mute and heals him. He also feeds the 4000 and drives out the demons into the herd of pigs in Gentile country. He did reach out to the Gentiles but he never bowed down in any of their temples.
