Mary was NOT a very good Christian for FAILING to be a COMPLETE wife to him.
Rude?
Your call.
Why do YOU judge it RUDE?
Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?... Do you not know that we shall judge angels?... How much more, things that pertain to this life?.. If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge ? (1 Corinthians 6:1-5).
Many commands of God require the exercise of righteous judgment.
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us (2 Thessalonians 3:6).
And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother (2 Thessalonians 3:14,15).
Teach and exhort these things. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wrangling of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself (2 Timothy 6:2b-5).
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple (Romans 16:17,18).
All these commands require the careful exercise of righteousness judgment. Do not be deceived by smooth words and flattering speech. Beware of wolves who come to you with a sheeps skin.
We must be careful not to make unqualified judgments. But we must judge appropriately when commanded to do so.
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. (John 7:24).
Why has your chosen religion created a woman that...
I see what you mean!
It's tradition.
You DO agree with the use of that; right?
And kitties; too...
Mom; you've stepped on a viper!
Says someone who has JUDGED Protestantism!
Since you are not Protestant, you have no business reinterpreting wrongly what we supposedly believe, and deliberately distorting Protestant practices to appear UNTRADITIONAL.
2 Timothy 2:14
Remind others about these things, and warn them before God not to argue over words. Arguing does not do any good but only destroys those who are listening.
Indeed!
The bible is VERY clear about spoiling Advent!
I utterly reject the unBiblical proposition your post contains.
Your post consists in its entirety of drivel so illogical as to repudiate sanity itself. In it, you contradict even your own earlier syllogism, Unnecessary, ergo nonexistent.
His Grace isnt minimum.
You are the one who argued that it is, when you argued that the Immaculate Conception must be a false dogma because it is unnecessary for salvation... In so arguing, you are positing a limen, a threshold above which things are necessary for salvation, and below which they are not. If we agree that God has provided at least those Graces that are necessary, that limen is the minimum.
Yet, your post attempts to sneak some good old fashioned paganism into the equation and make the amazing gift of God seem parsimonious.
The well-known servant of Satan V. I. Lenin said, Accuse others of what you do. My note chided you for just what you accuse me of in this note. I am not the one who argues that dogma must be false because it fails to rise to a limen of necessity that I myself tried to call into being.
You are the one who wrote unnecessary for salvation, not I. You are the one who writes that anything not rising to this limen is false, not I. You are the one who accuses God of parsimony, not I.
Please rethink your non-Biblical assertions.
Please rethink well, everything you know.
Start with the notion that any man could know what is or is not necessary for any other man’s salvation.
“Are we talking about WORDS? AGAIN?!?!?”
Never have talked about that in the sense you try to impose.
But I’m not surprised to hear you think we have.
“Non Catholics have no authority to twist Catholic beliefs to appear unscriptural when there are clear prooftexts in the bible allowing intercessory prayer.”
ZERO “prooftexts” advocating, allowing or demonstrating any prayers to saints. Authority doesn’t flow from your denomination. It starts with God and is spelled out in His word.
“Start with the notion that any man could know what is or is not necessary for any other mans salvation.”
We know what He revealed. Salvation is always by faith in Christ. The rest is man-made paganism.
Hi, Elsie!
You’ll find her in the Gospels, most notably that of Luke. She is Jesus’ mother. Of all people, wouldn’t Jesus, Who forgave His enemies and teaches us to do the same, love His mother dearly? From our own childhoods, wouldn’t a remark against a parent be considered inflammatory? And when you love someone, don’t you hurt for them when they hurt? And When someone shows them a kindness, isn’t it as if they did it twice as much for you?
Jesus said, “Whatsoever you do to the least of My people, that you do unto Me.” When we show respect and love for His mother, does it not follow that He is pleased?
Peace be with you, and all good things!
“We know what He revealed.”
You claim to know both more and less than that.
At yet Catholics place Mary in a place of authority. I see hypocrisy.
dsc,
You wrote, “You claim to know both more and less than that.”
I claim that anything not in Scripture is made up by those who prefer a “Living Constitution” that can mean whatever is needed over time.
In this case, teachings like Mary’s perpetual virginity or immaculate conception are non-Biblical teachings, likely of pagan origin. Neither is found in God’s revealed truth. Neither is necessary for salvation, according to His Word.
best
“At yet Catholics place Mary in a place of authority. I see hypocrisy.”
An inability to discern vital distinctions leads many people to see many things that do not exist.
Catholics do not place the Blessed Virgin anywhere. God has placed her where He has.
Some people seem to think that a pig-headed refusal to understand another’s’ position constitutes an argument against that position. Some people seem to think that a bigoted denial of others’ experiences constitutes an intellectual argument against the validity of those experiences.
Those who deny that the Holocaust happened fall in this group, as do those who deny that God sometimes uses other people to assist us.
“I claim that anything not in Scripture is made up by those who prefer a Living Constitution that can mean whatever is needed over time.”
I pity all who languish in the grasp of that Satanic deception.
