Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

SC Rep Joe Smith said “You prevaricate!” or something.

Of course, he is no longer a hero since he voted with the Dems on the budget thingy this past week.

Bema judgement (1 Cor. 3: 10~17) or White Throne Judgement (Rev. 20:11~15).

In some ways gettin old sucks don’t it? I used to think when the older folds stood up and just stood there for a second or two it was a sign of wisdom. Now I know they were just waiting for their joints to catch up.

Yes! The Holy Spirit is in the believers, we are part of Him, He is in us and we are in Him. Christ was already judged and He won’t be again, so neither will we...but yes, there is great confusion on this subject.

Speak for yourself.

I've not reached 70 and look at all those guys in Scripture having kids at 300 and 500 years old!

Just getting warmed up.

Interpretation” is always something man made, and rarely coincides with God’s word, so if you are following an interpretation perhaps you wish for something else?

that is the absolute truth and interpretation, as you describe it, happened only after the protestant revolution. Yes, there were heresies that sprang up over the years but those were quickly put down....but the actual attempt to re-establish the meanings and teachings of Christianity came only after Luther and the others decided to determine what was right and wrong with Christianity...

I make a whole post in good faith trying to explain to someone who really doesn’t care, they just like to ridicule and you pick one sentence and go to town.

What does point of view have to do with anything we’re speaking of....either one believes and obeys what God says or not.....God’s Word is very clear and precise that none of His are to bow down, pray to or worship any idol made by men....

Catholics believe just as you do that we should believe and obey what God says.....HOWEVER, you then run on and speak of bowing down to, praying to, and worshiping idols. Then Elsie or some one else shows people who they assume are doing just that....they aren't, they are being reminded of who the people that they are HONORING are, or at least what we think they might have looked like. If I pray in front of a statue of Mary, I'm not praying to the statue. I bought the statue at Home Depot this morning and I made a little area in my garden to place the statue and I am saying a prayer THROUGH the person whom the statue represents... You may not believe in praying through another person, that I understand, but don't accuse me of praying TO a concrete form that I bought for $69.95 (on sale)...didn't happen

What's to apologize for?

Don't you know that not EVERYTHING has been written in the Bible?Your guess is as good as the next guy's.

Or even the Pope's (who doesn't sit well with some of our FR Catholics) or even the Magisterium (who only have to have a majority vote to come up with stuff INFALLIBLE).

I rode the Hulk as the first ride at Universal Orlando.

That tunnel launch messed me up for the entire day.

I’ve never had vertigo so bad!

My eyes never did check up to what my body was feeling.

The wife (who loved it) thought I was dying!

Bema judgement?

1 Corinthians 3:10-17 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

10 According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation no man can lay, but that which is laid; which is Christ Jesus.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble:

13 Every man's work shall be manifest; for the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide, which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

16 Know you not, that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

17 But if any man violate the temple of God, him shall God destroy. For the temple of God is holy, which you are.
