I have long argued at FR and elsewhere that for the past three decades the Evangelical vote is THE key to the GOP. If the GOP manages to arouse and enthuse the Evangelicals, the GOP wins. If they do not, they do not.

This model has been borne out every one of the past 16 elections. When the Rovian leftists/collectivists prevail the Evangelicals feel no affinity for the candidate and stay home. If the candidates can persuade and excite the Evengelicals, even when that sausion is dishonest, like W who campaigned as an Evangelical and governed like the leftist Methodist he is, they show up in droves.

That is a fact. I cannot begin to tell you how many Christian friends I have that simply will not vote for a socially liberal candidate. I for one, am one who will not pull the lever for you if you support gay marriage or abortion..... not ever. The big problem is that so many stay home, even though there are other good conservatives on the ballot in most cases.

I do go to the ballot box, but I do my research. I never vote for a democrat or a libertarian. The only chance you have to get my vote is to have an R next to your name But if you are a social liberal I simply leave that particular office blank and vote for no one. I just move along to the next set of names/offices.

I didn’t stay home because Mitt was on the ballot. I just skipped right by his name.

So am I. And bet I will if my willpower holds. I've seen Cruz in action, against GOP-E favorites. Not the same as running for President, that's for sure. He always screws up their 'received wisdom'.

But the 'conventional wisdom' of the GOP-E has not won any elections. Romney lost because he was a liberal.

People will vote for conservatives. Republicans don't need liberal republicans to win elections. Republicans don't need liberal voters to win.

The liberal GOP-E doesn't want to hear that because it can cost their jobs, so that's why they spread the meme you just tried to spread.

I’m not lobbying for anything ... I’m simply stating what I think is true ... whether anyone believes me or not. I know that if I’m right, it will be borne out in the same way that Reagan’s election was borne out. Otherwise, we’ll see more of the same as the last few elections.

So I don’t really care whether anyone believs me or not ... or neither do I care to try to convince anyone that I will be right, because I don’t have to prove it ... as the election will be all the proof needed.

The base alone doesn't elect anyone. Neither does playing to the middle. The problem is the GOP seems to play to the middle in the general and the base in the primaries. There has to be a middle ground between those two points.

Cruz at the top of the ticket will give us President Hillary. And to be honest, I have reservations about another President with basically zero executive experience.

My point being there have been many truly AWFUL Governors and well as some good ones. There have also been around 16 Presidents who did not have Executive Experience, some of those Presidents were not only decent, some were good.

The need for "Executive Experience" is highly overrated.

For example, let's take Scott Walker.

Many of his fans point to his "Executive Experience" and his "getting things done" as making him a better choice than Ted Cruz, even though the conservative fidelity of Scott Walker is much less than Ted Cruz.

Walker has had a GOP Controlled Legislature. It is THE ONLY REASON he has gotten anything done. If he did not have a GOP Controlled Legislature, he would have gotten nothing done that would have been commendable from a conservative perspective.

The GOP controlled legislature is the ones who deserve commendation because they did all the heavy lifting of getting the bills to Walker's Desk. All Walker had to do was sign the bills and yet his supporters ignore all of this.

Why?
