No. The 10 commandments, or old law, are dead. We now live under the new law as explained in the New Testament.

The Bible says we're not under the law.

Sadly many "Christians" believe this.

Absolutely.

But, while Christ came to fulfill the prohecy, he also, through the resurrection, fulfilled the law, with the proviso that we shoukd guard our hearts and minds and never consider breaking the commandments.

As a man thinketh, so is he...

If you reject the divine love of God, perfectly exemplified by Jesus Christ, you’re automatically under God’s laws for humanity. But when you accept the love of God, that alone guides you, even to death.

God is not mocked, and there is no escape from divine law, except divine love. Divine love is a path of fire that will burn you up if you betray it - and purify you and bring you to God if you don’t. For the fire IS the love IS God, and the only thing it burns is sin.

The church that Jesus founded (the Catholic Church) still accepts the 10 commandments. The Catholic Church can do this because of Matt16, Matt 18, and John 20.

Israel was under the covenant of the law and ten commandments as a school master until the fullness of the time of the Messiah came.

Christians are under grace, not the law, for Christ fulfilled all the law, so our duty, fulfilment of the law towards God was fulfilled in Christ and in Christ alone, not us.

However God expects us to live a moral, righteousness, holy life because of what Christ has done.. And not for our salvation, that has already been taken care of in Christ.

We honor the 10 commandments not for our earning our salvation, but because we honor God in it and honor Christ in it.

This sort of Self and Self Alone Protestant derived drivel is why the US and Europe are now exactly like the society described in Romans 1.

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18”For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19”Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.…

Matthew 7:21”Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22”Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23”And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

Matthew 15:8-9 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,And[a] honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

The 10 commandments, with the sole exception of the commandment to keep the Sabbath, codify natural law. All humans are "under" natural law, in the sense that they are required to obey it, and not to obey it is both sin (that is, offensive to God), and harmful to the person committing the offense (and usually, those around him).

Does this mean that you can earn your way into heaven by keeping the 10 commandments? No! That would be silly. It's like some street urchin expecting to be adopted into the Royal Family on the basis of never being in trouble with the police. It's merely a minimum expectation of behavior, nothing more.

Can you earn your way into hell by breaking the 10 commandments? Most assuredly.

What did Jesus have to say about it?

Mat 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Yes. The Ten Commandments are a statement of the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” and are universally binding. Christians are not subject to Jewish ceremonial law — the specific laws and traditions that have preserved Jewish identity under persecution since ancient times.

Great ping list.

The "Grace Revolution" (THE gospel of the grace of God) is revolutionizing lives and the church.

you are not under the law, but under grace Rom 6:15.

Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 2 Corinthians 3:6-8.

We are not under the Law, but we are under obligation to God, who is our Lord and Master. What He tells us will not contradict the ideas of the 10 Commandments.

As Jesus said:

” “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire...”

St. John says, "Yes!"

1 Jn 5:1-6

Beloved:
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God,
and everyone who loves the Father
loves also the one begotten by him.
In this way we know that we love the children of God
when we love God and obey his commandments.
For the love of God is this,
that we keep his commandments.
And his commandments are not burdensome,
for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world.
And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.
Who indeed is the victor over the world
but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is the one who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ,
not by water alone, but by water and blood.
The Spirit is the one that testifies,
and the Spirit is truth.

Are Christians Under the 10 Commandments?

Well...

...since the 10 were given to the Chosen People (Jews) as part of a Legal Contract; I don't see how that I, a non-Jew, would have any standing in a court of 'law' if I tried to apply them to me.

I think a similar question was asked (and answered) in Acts 15.

Acts 15

The Council at Jerusalem
1 Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. 3 The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad. 4 When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”

6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. 14 Simon[a] has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:

16 “‘After this I will return
   and rebuild David’s fallen tent.
Its ruins I will rebuild,
   and I will restore it,
17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
even all the Gentiles who bear my name,
says the Lord, who does these things’[b]
18 things known from long ago.[c]

19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

The Council’s Letter to Gentile Believers
22 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers. 23 With them they sent the following letter:

The apostles and elders, your brothers,

To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

   Greetings.

24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

   Farewell.

30 So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. 31 The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. 32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers. 33 After spending some time there, they were sent off by the believers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them. [34] [d] 35 But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.

Disagreement Between Paul and Barnabas
36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” 37 Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38 but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. 41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

Are Christians Under the 10 Commandments? It depends what you mean by “under”. The 10 Commandments weren’t meant as a burden on the nation of Israel but rather a code of conduct for God’s Chosen people. This is a permanent Law between God and His people. How can you know? Because Jesus said as much in Matt 5:17-19.

Consider that there are two parts to the 10 Commandments; three and seven Commandments. If you were to summarize the first three Commandments, you could quote Deuteronomy and Christ; “You shall love the Lord your God with all your hearth, and with all you soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30). The other seven could be summarized as “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” That is the whole Law and it is the Law of God summarized. We, as God’s people still obey (1 John 5:1-6).

The problem that most people fall into is a failure to recognize that there are two sets of laws for the Israelites. God’s Law was given to them directly by God Himself and is the 10 Commandments. When the Israelites failed to keep the covenant with God, God commanded Moses to give the Israelites the “Second Law” or “Deuteronomy” or “Law of Moses”. This was a yoke placed on a “stiff-necked people.” Without this understanding of two laws, it is easy to make Scripture sound schizophrenic in that the Law has been fulfilled and yet the Law will never pass away.

The yoke has been lifted. We are no longer bound by the Law of Moses. However, the Law of God remains... unless you think you would bear no blame for breaking any of the 10 Commandments. They are our code of conduct... of negative things we "shall not" do... summarized in the two things we "shall" do; love God and neighbor.

I met a Catholic to whom the bible is a foreign concept. His summary of his religion is “I try to obey the 10 commandments”. That’s just a sad testimony.
