The attempt to "empower the laity" resulted in giving the laity "priestly" things to do. That was absolutely wrong. The fundamental task of the priest is to bring Christ into the world, through consecrating the Eucharist. The fundamental task of the laity is to take Christ into the world, and be the "leaven" in society. Post-Vatican II, the Church completely ignored this duty of the laity.

When democrat priests vote for the anti-God secularist crowd, they are voting for people who represent their ideals and beliefs.
I would say the unilateral disarmament seems to be coming from the top, not just the Pope, but bishops also. But I could be wrong. Granted, one probably shouldn’t talk about moral issues all the time, but to never talk about them and give the appearance of giving a wink and a nudge to those who are promoting the false moral of the current world is just wrong, IMHO. Mercy is of course important, but to say sin is not sin and doesn’t matter is false mercy.

In a 2010 LifeWay Research survey 77 percent of American Protestant pastors (57% of mainline versus 87% evangelical) strongly disagree with same-sex marriage, with 6% percent somewhat disagreeing, and 5% being somewhat in agreement and 10 percent strongly agreeing. (5% of evangelical).

A 2002 nationwide poll of 1,854 priests in the United States and Puerto Rico reported that 30% of Roman Catholic priests described themselves as Liberal, 28% as Conservative, and 37% as Moderate in their Religious ideology. 53 percent responded that they thought it always was a sin for unmarried people to have sexual relations; 32 percent that is often was, and 9 percent seldom/never. However, nearly four in 10 younger priests in 2002 described themselves as conservative, and were more likely to regard as "always a sin" such acts as premarital sex, abortion, artificial birth control, homosexual relations, etc., and three-fourths said they were more religiously orthodox than their older counterparts.
