Meet the 'Radical' Baptist Transgender Preacher Who Talks to Angels

He's known in MSNBC ranks as "the most radical preacher in America." But it's not the message that makes him radical. Rather, it's the messenger himself.

Allyson Dylan Robinson is the first openly transgender ordained in the Baptist church. Donning long red hair and thick-rimmed glasses, he told the Alliance of Baptists he was a "white, straight, lower/upper middle class, European-descended man" when he first arrived at Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary.

As Robinson tells the story, he prayed for 30 years that God would change him and even tried deliverance ministry to find freedom. But God did not answer his prayers.

"I have known my entire life that the world was wrong about me, that on the day I was born, when the doctor took a cursory glance between my legs and authoritatively declared 'It's a boy,' he was wrong—dead wrong," Robinson said.

Robinson admits he was so miserable at one point that he contemplated suicide and concludes that "an angel of the Lord" named "Reason" kept him from taking the plunge into death.

Since stepping down about a year ago as transitional pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, the church that ordained her for a second time in 2014, this time as a woman, Robinson has embarked upon “a modest ministry of itinerant preaching to unsuspecting audiences.”

She appeared on the E! reality program I Am Cait to perform a renaming ceremony for her friend Caitlyn Jenner, “who is scandalously a Republican,” describing it as “a wonderful and bizarre experience that gave me the opportunity to tell 2 million people God loves you because of who you are, not in spite of who you are.”

Robinson said her theology of survival is far different from what she was taught to believe growing up in a traditional Southern Baptist church.

Which is a lie that many Christians repeat. No, God does love you because of who you are, which is wicked, though there is a sense in which God loves/approves a person because of his/her obedience, (Mk. 10:20,21) but God chooses to love sinners whom are otherwise repulsive in His sight, showing mercy and grace that we may repent and come to Christ, and therefore be "accepted in the Beloved," (Eph. 1:6) on Christ's account.
