I hope he’s preaching that to the “refugees” he took to the Vatican.

How long did it take for him to realize that?

The pope added that he who attempts to reach heaven by an alternative way to Jesus "is a thief and a robber."

It depends on what the definition of heaven, is.

The pope also stressed the importance of Jesus and eternity in a February 2015 homily

Details in an article catch my attention here. Why does the author have a need to go back and cite 2015 and 2014 references?

Pope Francis and the Renunciation of Jewish Conversion

The Church is therefore obliged to view evangelisation to Jews, who believe in the one God, in a different manner from that to people of other religions and world views. In concrete terms this means that the Catholic Church neither conducts nor supports any specific institutional mission work directed towards Jews.

So how does this all square with Amoris Laetitia, and in particular, footnote #351?

Francis’ Janus-faced commentary over the course of his papacy constitutes the quintessential head game. Thank God for the trustworthy teachings of Sacred Scripture, of the Saints, holy Popes and spiritual guides which transmit to us the unadulterated Truth, especially in these times when we are being relentlessly bombarded with error — even from the highest echelons of the Church.

Does that mean he no longer believes atheists can make it into Heaven?

“”A Christian without a church is something purely idealistic, it is not real.”

The conclusion is so simple that even Pope Francis, a hick from Argentina, gets it. No salvation outside the Church. Analogy. No animals lived outside of Noah’s ark .

If Francis truly believes that Jesus is the only way to heaven, why does he promote and encourage the people who say that He isn’t the only answer?

“No animals lived outside of Noah’s ark .”

Of course that’s true.
Why do you think there are no unicorns?

Good question.

Four people wrote the Book of Genesis and there are different ways to interpret the Bible. The Noah story lacked unicorns as well as star fish, dolphins and kangaroos, because the Noah story is interpreted analogously. Who is to say that maybe Pope Francis is speaking analogously, too? Thus, pride rejects the source of truth and humility sees the wonderful story of Noah and the accuracy of the Church’s mission.

With this pope, I thought the way to heaven was fighting global warming deniers.

A least from the time he entered the Society of Jesus.

"A Christian without a church is something purely idealistic, it is not real."

When a person who has turned himself over to Christ as his Lord and Savior becomes saved, he has become part of Christ's Church. Else, I agree with the Pope - for once (or maybe twice or even three times), but I guess it's all moot since I am a lapsed Catholic who attends a Christian Church.

My brain hurts.

Don't let it. Modernist is as Modernist does. If he actually said this (I don't see an actual link to his words in this Christian Post article), this is classic Modernist teeter-tottering. In addition, given his recent memory issues re: AL ("I don't remember.....") it seems as if Francis is now pandering to those he has obviously upset. I don't believe he believes this traditional dogma for a second. I certainly wouldn't put it past him to want you to believe that he does though.

This will appear more clearly to anybody who studies the conduct of Modernists, which is in perfect harmony with their teachings. In their writings and addresses they seem not unfrequently to advocate doctrines which are contrary one to the other, so that one would be disposed to regard their attitude as double and doubtful. But this is done deliberately and advisedly, and the reason of it is to be found in their opinion as to the mutual separation of science and faith. Thus in their books one finds some things which might well be approved by a Catholic, but on turning over the page one is confronted by other things which might well have been dictated by a rationalist. - Pascendi, Pope Pius X, 1907
