The SSPX parish in St Mary’s Kansas is set to build what will be the largest church in Kansas. The design draws inspiration from the Romanesque style, which was dominant in Europe from approximately the 9th to the 13th century. The project, according to the website created to showcase it (discover .anewimmaculata.org), will cost a projected $30 million. This money has already been raised and, notably, 80% of it has come from parish community itself., which currently numbers around 4,000 people. The seating capacity of the new church will be about 1,500; here are some of the architect’s drawings taken from the website.

I’d lean Gothic, myself...but I understand the symbolism of this.
How come a community of only 4000 can raise $30million? That is almost $8000 per member.
Good, I like it. It looks like a church (and not a glass office building).
Very pretty. Best wishes to them.
Barring the two towers in the front, I’d say it greatly resembles the church of St. Leo the Great in Oakland, California.
I also prefer Gothic over Romanesque; however, if this is built from the same native Kansas limestone like the buildings on Ft. Riley, I think it will be particularly attractive. I’d like to see some sketches of the proposed interior.
*ping of interest*
Check out St Fidelis Church in Victoria, Ks. It is about 4 hours west of Kansas City and 5 hours east of Denver on I-70. St Fidelis is known as the Cathederal of Prarie, also as The Basilica of St Fidelis Church IIRC

Sorry, it ain’t no Sagrada Familia, but at least it will be finished on time.
Lovely. May God bless them.
St. Leo the Great in Oakland is beautiful, just as St. Jarlat and St. Margaret Mary in Oakland, CA.
I briefly talked with members from SSPX in 1995. Sad how they do not see the holes in their dogma that reject the documented miracles of John Paul II. For example, in 1979 the daughter of Bernard and Mary Mulligan had kidney disease and three months to live. Pope John Paul II walked by the girl, paused, touched her, said a quiet prayer, and continued walking. The next day the girl was healed (Zuchniewicz 2006: 21).
What dogma do they have that not all Catholics prior to VC II held to? Miracles are not dogma!
JP II kissed a Koran, invoked St. John the Baptist to protect Islam and was the first pope to enter a mosque.
Nice
At the time of the 2011 “beatification” of John Paul II, I learned of a homeschool online discussion taking place among sixth to ninth graders. A traditional Catholic youth (whom I know) was telling non-traditionalist Catholic acquaintances about Pope John Paul II’s pan-religious meeting at Assisi; that John Paul invited Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Jains, and pagans to pray together at the event in October 1986. He also posted photos of the Assisi gathering.
The homeschooled youngsters refused to believe it. They claimed it could not be true; that the John Paul II/Assisi photos were doctored, that no pope—especially one “beatified” by the allegedly conservative Benedict XVI—would perform this act of ecclesiastical treason.
The young traditional Catholic who told his acquaintances about Assisi was accused of making up the account; of trying to defame the name of “Blessed” Pope John Paul II; of inventing a malicious story about a pagan-packed, pan-religious prayer-fest that no pope would countenance.
Here, then, is the striking point: The children knew the Assisi prayer meeting was not Catholic. The children knew it was not a manifestation of heroic virtue. The children knew it was a scandal of colossal dimension, and thus refused to believe John Paul could be guilty of it. To their credit, these youngsters displayed a better sensus Catholicus than today’s Vatican leaders.
Can somebody explain SSPX as as opposed to usual Catholics?
Thanks
