Preaching the gospel always accomplishes what HE intends..of course that is only true if you are a Calvinist and believe God is sovereign

What did we talk about a day or so ago, Mark? Game! Yeah, that's it! Game.

Game recognizes game. Always have. Always will.

Depends on what your Catholic faith tells you.

I have the impression you already know what my faith tells me.If you agreed with it you would be Catholic,no?

Am I saved? This is a yes or no question.

Yep, some we leave to their own devices.

If what we are discussing [Predestination] this morning makes you feel uncomfortable or even angry, then perhaps you should take a second look and ask yourself if you really are a Christian. Use that feeling as a warning that something might be wrong, much the same purpose that pain serves when it alerts us that something is wrong with our body, and needs attention. And the attention you should give is not to yourself and your feelings, but to the Lord Jesus Christ, seeking his face, seeking to know him and serve him. Your attitude should be: "even if I were to find out I was predestined to hell and judgment, still would I seek to love and serve my Lord and God Jesus Christ." Let me further suggest that if you have this attitude, it is almost incontrovertible evidence that you don't have to be worried about your own election. ~ Perspectives on Predestination by Barry Hofstetter

And Jesus, after giving a sermon on Unconditional Election:

"But there are some of you that believe not." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, "Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." From that [time] many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Seems like we should just continue to follow the example of the Lord and preach the gospel nicknamed "Calvinism" and the spiritual Tares will leave and find their own itching ears churches.

Mark, Mom, game recognizes game.

Codie, how would I know if you are or are not? Sure I know some things about the Catholic faith, having gone to school in the Diocese of Cleveland at St. Joseph's for 5 years.

It's not about "agreeing." It's about a saving Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and being born again. Instead of asking me whether or not you are saved, you should ask yourself if you have a saving faith in the Lord and make your calling and election sure. That's far more important than what I think anyway.

One last thing, Codie. Baiting me? FUHGEDABOUDIT!

I saw you coming from 20 miles away. It's hard to bait me, and, I don't prove negatives.

I stay out of a lot of trouble that way.

Jerry, he doesn't botch Jeremiah at all. He's engaged in a review of a particular word "rise up early."

You have not understood him. I'm sure others will return to read this and see that we have this word "shakam" meaning "urge earnestly."

Additionally, God's word to Jeremiah dealt with Israel's history, as in: 3) Jeremiah 7:25-26—Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants, the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them; yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck.”

God's anger at Judah that led him to tell Jeremiah NOT to pray for them is well known. However, it has nothing to do with when they left Egypt for the promised land, does it?

God EARNESTLY URGED them throughout their history to listen, but they RESISTED God. He willed one thing, but permitted their OWN will to be the determining factor.

Down falls the "I" representing Irresistible Grace.

Today The Word has biblically decimated the "L" and the "I." Furthermore, the truth is this: If you prove the "L" unbiblical, you also prove the "U" unbiblical.

The only way to believe at the same time in both "Unlimited Atonement" and "Unconditional Election" is to construct a schizoid, capricious, cruel God....and that's a fact.

Nothing we can do ourselves will save our wretched souls from damnation since we are all fallen and unworthy of heaven.

If God chooses, through the power of his grace, to gather us to Him, we will be saved by Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.

And if we are among the saved, we will lead a life which glorifies God and testifies to our eternal gratitude.

And because our hearts are filled with love for God and our minds are filled with the glory of the Trinity, we will know we are saved.

So, if you can attest to the above, welcome, Brother. You're saved.

You missed my point entirely.

The book of Jeremiah is a testament to the fact that it doesn’t matter one iota what man wants once God has made up His mind. Throughout this book Jeremiah is told that the people will not repent, that they will not turn, and even if they did God would not forgive and restore them. Judah had already stepped over the line, and their punishment was a certain fact, no matter what they might do. They already had “Ichabod” written on their hearts, and there was nothing they could do to change this fact.

Your side will have to try much harder than this if they expect to challenge our position. In fact, I am a bit embarrased that you haven’t been able to do better lately.

He willed one thing, but permitted their OWN will to be the determining factor.

Who has resisted His will? O man, who are you to reply against God?

BTW, a question: Since the Arminians believe that it is God's will that all men everywhere without exception are saved, and we know from Jesus about prayers according to His will "that will I do", if you Arminians were to pray for the salvation of all men without exception:

  1. would all men be saved and Revelation be proved false?
    -- OR --
  2. would Jesus be proved a liar and not all men be saved?
Or should I just log this question with the growing number of questions which no Arminian can answer as your beliefs are a Biblical impossibility?

Your premise of God's will is wrong. God wills their salvation but has also willed that they themselves choose. He will not force them to believe in Him. They must choose.

Now, it's no longer an unanswered question. Are you ready to join the bible side -- the free choice side -- now, woodmeister?

Decimated, Jerry. All they did all day was call me names. They had no argument at all. They simply couldn't overcome the power of The Word.

Time you dropped the "L" and got in the boat with DrSTeveJ.

Have the Methodists given their blessing to smoking dope?

FYI, there are times that nobody answers your questions due to the fact that your questions are so inane, and show a complete lack of understanding and critical thinking. Please don’t mistake this refusal to answer stupid questions as a “decimation” of one’s position.
