ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The 2024 HGTV Dream Home winner on Anastasia Island has been revealed. Marie Fratta, a teacher from Hawthorne, New York, was announced Wednesday on HGTV’s social media channels as the home’s winner in a video showing her being surprised with all of the prizes. The win seemed to be a family effort, as Fratta was encouraged to enter the contest by her middle daughter, HGTV said on its website. Fratta’s oldest daughter is already living on Florida’s East Coast, so they thought nabbing the home would be a good way to bring the family together. Action...

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The HGTV 2024 Dream Home on Anastasia Island has been a controversial issue in St. Augustine because a seawall was built without the city’s approval, without permits. Coastal Getaway’s home is part of a contest where people enter for a chance to win the three-bedroom, four bath, $2 million, 3,300 square foot home on Pelican Reef Drive. The winner gets the home fully furnished, a new Mercedes-Benz and $100,000 cash. The contest ended February 15, but a winner has not been announced due to the unpermitted work done on the house. The house was built with...

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — On Thursday, HGTV will pick the winner of its 2024 Dream Home in Anastasia Island. But when the winner is picked, they might be in for a rude awakening. Some hoping for the ‘dream home’ say the situation seems more like a nightmare. “You’d think they’d have everything in order before building something like that,” says Rebecca Rexrode, who entered 45 times for the chance to win the home. It doesn’t sound too dreamy, either, to Beth Uhl, who’s tried for the HGTV Dream Home each year for at least the last decade. “So you get...

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The company behind this year’s 2024 HGTV Dream Home in Anastasia Island just got a wake up call from St. Augustine leaders. From video and pictures online, the home, located in the Pelican Reef community, looks move-in ready. But part of the property hasn’t even been approved. This afternoon, the St. Augustine planning and zoning board spent hours today talking about the seawall around the home that’s already built, but was never approved by the city. The board has now voted to hold off an approval or denial of the entire property. The seawall was built...

When he dissented in Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same sex marriage, Chief Justice John Roberts predicted that the decision could eventually lead to the legalization of polygamy. For HGTV, that would be just fine. On its February 12 episode of House Hunters, the network featured a "throuple" –– a polyamorous threesome –– looking for a home in Colorado. The episode, titled "Three's Not a Crowd in Colorado Springs," celebrated a married couple who had added a second woman to the relationship. The original man-woman couple, who have two children, held a "commitment ceremony" with the...

The HGTV show House Hunters featured its first “Throuple”, or polyamorous couple, on its show Wednesday night. A “Throuple” is a relationship made up of three people. In this case, two women and a man named Lori, Geli, and Brian. The couple has two children, who are biologically related to Brian and Lori. In the episode, the trio describes their ideal home as one that has a three-car garage, a master bedroom that fits three people, and room for the two children. While looking at a house’s kitchen, Lori remarked on its size as a “couple’s kitchen, not a throuple’s...

Full Title: HGTV’s ‘Flip Or Flop’ Stars Tarek El Moussa, Christina Anstead Named In FTC Complaint On “Bogus” Real Estate Seminars A court has ordered a temporary stop on real estate seminars endorsed by HGTV stars Tarek El Moussa and Christina Anstead, with the Federal Trade Commission claiming the promotion efforts on the classes were “misleading.” In its complaint Friday, the FTC said that Utah-based Zurixx LLC advertised “free” real estate seminars that used endorsements by the popular El Moussa and Anstead to lure attendees. However, at the events, the attendees were urged to sign up for a three-day class...

Chip and Joanna Gaines grace the cover of People magazine’s October 23, issue. The husband and wife costars of the home makeover show ‘Fixer Upper’ – the highest rated series in HGTV’s history – explained why they decided to walk away from their hit series after five successful seasons. I’ve had my suspicions about the Waco, Texas couple since I caught an episode in which Joanna placed several pieces of artwork on a wall. The piece that stood out to me proclaimed: “We walk by faith, not by sight.” I image that many, if not most, of the 46 million...

HGTV is standing by the hosts of its popular home renovation series “Fixer Upper.” The channel issued a response after BuzzFeed reported earlier this week that Chip and Joanna Gaines attend a church whose pastor has spoken out against same-sex marriage, and raised the question of whether gay couples would be welcome on the show. “We don’t discriminate against members of the LGBT community in any of our shows,” the network said in a statement to The Post.

Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of HGTV's No. 1 series "Fixer Upper," are being lambasted by secular media this week for attending a church that espouses the traditional view of marriage and sexual morality. Buzzfeed and Cosmopolitan magazine reported this week that the Gaines family are members of Antioch Community Church in Waco, Texas, where Pastor Jimmy Seibert has preached that the practice of homosexuality is a sin, and urged Christians not to adopt the Supreme Court's redefinition of marriage after it ruled that same-sex marriage is legal nationwide in July 2015. Cosmo called the Gaines' church attendance a "startling...

Among the top 10 cable networks in terms of prime-time viewers, only Fox News Channel, HGTV and Discovery Channel are on track to finish 2015 on an upswing. Among the top channels taking big hits this year are TNT, off 16% in viewers, and History, which is experiencing a decline of 20%. Even AMC, home of "The Walking Dead" and the last season of "Mad Men," is down 2%. Not every news channel got a boost from politics. Al Jazeera America finished 99th in prime-time rankings with an average of just 28,000 viewers.
