I'm not expecting anyone here to agree with me but its a pretty cut and dry story. Some old Dyke wants her old home movies of protests transferred to DVD, video guy looks at it and says "Ohh I dont do work for the gay agneda". Thats where it starts, not with town commission, if he hadnt taken a stand based on the precieved "gayness" there would be no story. It would be one thing if the films in question featured child porn or other illegal activities but they dont, its just street protests from 35 years ago. Its hard to see how he's any sort of victim when he started the whole thing.

Thanks for the insults kind stranger, theres a difference between "being too lazy" and living on the other side of the country with a family and a full time job. I have a gut feeling most of the people at WR would prefer it if you guys, code pink, Phelps and the rest of drama queens went somewhere else. It probably never occured you that not everybody likes self important street theater. Some people are trying to visit loved ones and some are actually trying to focus on recovering. For everyone who applauds you there are probably two more wishing all of you would take the shouting match elsewhere. You want to support the wounded troops for real, great volunteer some time. No you wont get the attention you get shouting on sidewalk but theres something worthwhile about helping to build a ramp or helping out with homecooked meals, try it sometime.

I appreciate your response, I'm glad we can see our common goals even if we have different means of reaching them. I live too far away from Washington to be a part of this but its my hope that those who do go will remember this - go to support the wounded, dont go to sink to Phelp's level of hatred. Instead of confronting them, its a waste they're clearly a cult, go to stand tall above them. Its very important to keep this scum in his place, beneath the dignity of our wounded men and women, dont give the a-hole the time of day.

So yeah, you guys show up with signs, flags, baseball bats and whatnot. Get a long line of rumbling bikes, dozens of cops and there you - minor media circus. Phelps gets some free airtime on the 6 o'clock news, making sure his hateful message is spread far and wide. Why not just buy him a billboard? Nobody in their right mind is gonna think Phelps represents anybody but his tiny little flock, dont elevate the clown by joining his sidewalk circus.

I could read the Irma Chambers letter 100 times and it wouldnt change my observation that you're only giving Phelps the attention he wants. Its delusional to see Phelps as a part of the anti-war movement, for one thing Phelps seems perfectly pro-war to me, he gets off on the deaths it generates. The other clear as day reason Phelps isnt part of the left/antiwar/codepink scene is that whole "God Hates Fags" trip hes on, trust me most people on the left are anti-god and pro-gay...Dont let that stop ya though.

Phelps isnt like the anti-war drum cirles types, he's more like the white supremecists who stage marches thru black neighborhoods and picket holocaust services. He goes where he's not wanted and says something offensive to get attention. He wants the attention to recruit more followers, so if you go out and make a big fuss over him you're helping him recruit. Its totally understandable that people feel angry and want to take action but its important to be mindful of aiding the man you want to defeat.

Look at this thread, he could hardly ask for better promotion than this. When Phelps flock shows up at an event they're a pathetic little group, just a handful of clearly brainwashed fools. When Phelps shows up on freerepublic and other sites he's a national juggernaut, getting lots of free press and heated discussion WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS! Sure 99% of us will read about him and think he's lost his mind but there will be new followers, new ears listening to his worldview, again you're giving him what he wants.

"HELLO! If you don't oppose these jerks the wounded warriors at WRAMC will believe this is normal. Don't believe me? Look at what happened during vietnam. Ain't happening on my watch. But that's ok. You can stick your head back in the sand and pretend it's not happening. We'll CYA."

Its highly unlikely any of the soldiers will look at the window and imagine that Phelps pathetic little tribe represents something other than what they are - fringe religioous kooks. Phelps aint the antiwar movement, he's just a nut and nobody can seriously confuse the two. Another Iraq/Vietnam analogy going nowhere, Phelps and the hippies, oh sure.

"Whatever it takes to shut the WBC down is fine with me. Ignoring something doesnt make it go away."

This is America, we're not in the habit of restricting free speech and shutting down churches, regardless of how repugnent they may be. In the past 6 months Phelps has enjoyed a surge of media attention, it certainly hasnt slowed him down, if anything its given them more steam. We could do worse than to marginalize this idiot. I cant think of a single cult that ever disbanded due to publicity and public oppostion, it only convinces them they're special. A lot of cults do fall apart when people lose interest in them though, let it start here.

We all know who this jerk and his followers are, we've heard about him for years and yes he is a disgrace. Now can we stop giving him the attention he thrives on? It doesnt take a Phd to figure he wants to shock and make people mad, we're his unwitting dupes when we promote his nasty little marches.

I'm not a fan of ripping off companies and the artists they represent but dammit I am a big fan of flea markets. A judgement of that size is pretty much a death sentence for the flea market, these are big companies. Of course flea markets would do just fine with pirated goods and any smart owner should kick them out but dont lawyer away the whole damn flea!! I love going out junking, gimme a dusty lot full of old stuff and a couple of twenties and I'm as happy as can be. I love the real person to person bargining and random nature of the goods. The fact that the whole thing has a whiff of being outside "the man's law" is part of the fun.

Yes to the nation as a whole immigration has a neutral effect, however there certain areas of the US where it has a real negative effect. Obviously states and counties that have a high amount of illegals will be feeling the burden more than those that dont. So the question then becomes why should the citizens of the those counties have to pay for everybody else's cheap produce? Another thing thats bugging me is how people keep framing illegals as being gardeners or nannies, those jobs are fine and I doubt they do any real damage - its the huge argiculture and constructions concerns that are doing the damage. A maid here and a groundskeeper there wont break America, its the 400 man crew of illegals bringing in the strawberries.

Never mind that the seed article is pure opinion and zero fact, its just not reaching conclusions that jive with reality. Look back on things like the Schiavo case, who was receiving credible death threats from whom exactly? How many times has rabid pro-choicer blown up or shot anybody? In any honest evaluation the right has it all over the left in terms of angry armed men. The same is easily true in terms of punditry, say Frankin and Moore if you want but neither of them even approach the pure bile of somebody like Michael Savage or Anne Coulter. Look at the recent days, people seriously slamming Jill Carrol for statements made as a hostage?!?!

Then theres Cheney's famous "Go f@#k yourself"

It never occured to you that they were covering the NORTH AMERICAN summit and were looking for a shot with all 3 of the NA leaders in it? Seems a bit more likely than some CNN editor saying "No wait guys, lets run with the slightly darkened Bush picture, it is after all part of our agenda to destroy him thru bad photography".

Besides how does this matter anyways, some woman in Utah clicked on CNN and suddenly thought "This grainy Bush image has totally changed my feeling about the Republican Party"? We all know what Bush looks like, its never really been the issue.

Or you could read the side credit and see that its a video still from a pool camera. You could consider that dozens of other news source used the same video. You could consider that CNN posted a whole gallery of nice Bush photos with that article...Yes you could consider those things or you could keep on looking at a rather mundane image as proof of a conspiracy.

if this popped up elsewhere, oops my bad but its the natural follow up to this thread

    http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=132848&format=&page=2

"Smith was working as a freelance photographer for the Boston archdiocese’s weekly newspaper at a special Mass for lawyers Sunday when a Herald reporter asked the justice how he responds to critics who might question his impartiality as a judge given his public worship.

“The judge paused for a second, then looked directly into my lens and said, ‘To my critics, I say, ‘Vaffanculo,’ ” punctuating the comment by flicking his right hand out from under his chin, Smith said.

The Italian phrase means “(expletive) you.” "

Well thats classy isnt it? This man needs to lay of the ol' sambuca. FYI the Boston Herald is hardly a liberal elitist paper,I believe its one of Murdochs.

Predict nothing, its in the census, this is becoming a minority majority nation and no matter what you read here the truth is that as a voting bloc latinos are down on the GOP. You call it immigration reform, they see it as the anti-hispanic people reform, bottom line. Sure you can find your latino Allen Keyes and JC Watts but you'll still lose 90% of the 1/3 vote latinos will soon have. The GOP will forever be connected to fat old white guys with lawnchairs and shotguns camped out on the border ready to stop the wetback. You might as well join the minuteman already.

Its such a "whatever" moment we should pause only long enough to hack up a snot wad to spit on it. The mayor here in Boston tried to ban the sale of such T-shirts, which pretty much ensured their sales amongst wannabes. If you grew up in a tough neighborhood you knew that code from birth and didnt need a shirt to remind you. If you heard about snitchin from the shirt odds are good you havent got anything worth talking to the cops about. Its not like somebody was about to tell everything to the cops and changed their mind when they saw the t-shirt.

Get some prespective on this people, Bush wasnt in any danger here its just a bunch of nonsense that really shouldnt even make the news much less warrent secret service attention. He wasnt targeting his classmates ala Columbine, he was talking about a guy he only knows from TV - Bush. Its fair to say the Bush is the best protected person on the planet, he doesnt have much to fear from somebody not even old enough to drive. What do you wanna do? Lock him up? Send him to Gitmo?

You can take "zero tolerance" too far and thats the real story here, a nation afraid of its kids.
