Help, my Self Search Function is Defunct! (vanity)

My self search function has been defunct since December 4. It is stuck on a ping from patent sent at 10:48 AM, Central time. John Robinson has not found the source of the trouble and affirms that I have many messages and pings there every day since. I cannot access any of them, unfortunately.

For those who have pinged me, or answered some of my comments with a pithy rejoinder, I am not ignoring you. I just have no way of knowing that I have a message waiting on a thread. I would like to add that without "Self Search" FreeRepublic is only half as good. It's the commentary from all of you that makes this such a special place.

If you really need to call my attention to something, please Freep Mail me -- that function still works.

There must be a glitch in the new code that has struck this feature off my horizon. It is not my computer because I have tried to access this feature from 3 different computers, and it is always the same.

John asked me if I had "cleared my cache". Problem is that I do not know how to do that beyond shutting the computer down and starting over, and that does not help.

I use AOL at home to access FreeRepublic (no flames, I like AOL) and my company's ISP to access FreeRepublic on my two computers at the office. It's the same all places. Internet Explorer is my default browser.

Any suggestions? Anyone else having this problem? I'll check back all day, or as long as the sidebar moderators allow this post to stay in Editorial.
