BOSTON (CBS) – Gov. Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency in Massachusetts Friday afternoon for the blizzard that could bring up to 3 feet of snow. He also announced he has signed an executive order to ban all travel on all roads in the state starting at 4 p.m. Friday. There are some exceptions to the ban, including emergency workers, those who work in hospitals and media, and others required to be at their jobs. The governor said rapid snowfall of 2-3 inches per hour will make for, “extremely dangerous conditions,” and will “make safe travel nearly impossible.” This...

    1) Starting in the sixties there was an explosion of children born out-of-wedlock and kids who don't grow up in two parent families fare more poorly percentage wise on just about any and every scale imaginable including substance abuse, teenage pregnancies, suicide rates, criminality and homelessness. 2) Many people are becoming so childlike in their dependence on the government that they can't save for their own retirement, escape from an oncoming hurricane, or even purchase their own birth control without the government handling it for them. 3) Our legal system encourages frivolous lawsuits, is punitively expensive and because of the...

The wife of former Miami Heat superstar Alonzo Mourning was arrested early Friday morning near Old Cutler Road and San Servano Avenue on a single charge of driving under the influence. According to the arrest report, Mourning failed a roadside sobriety test administered after allegedly speeding in two different areas and not stopping for a red light. The arrest report stated that after Mourning was stopped, she asked the officer, “What did I do sir?” The officer told her she had been speeding and she winked and said “I was going fast, wasn’t I?”

SO GOD MADE A DEMOCRAT God looked down on Washington D.C. and said "I need someone who will steal morning, noon and night. Who will steal from the rich to give to the poor and steal from the poor to give to the rich and fool them all and keep all the loot." So God made a Democrat. God said, "I need college man to come to a farm and tell the farmer that he can't feed his hogs with lettuce from his own farm or use the manure from his pigs to grow his lettuce. I need an...

Blizzard Nemo is bearing down on the Northeast- hence the term nor’easter to describe it- so prepare for the folks at Fashion Week, now being held in New York City, to be out in force battling the storm. “The organizers of New York's Fashion Week,” reports the CSMonitor, “a closely watched series of fashion shows held under a big tent – said they will have extra crews to help with snow removal and will turn up the heat and add an extra layer to the venue.” We can only hope that they wear furs. Because we’ll need blizzards of hilarity...

GENEVA - A woman was burnt alive in Papua New Guinea this week after townspeople accused her of sorcery, the United Nations said on Friday, citing the “heinous crime” as part of a growing pattern of vigilante attacks on people accused of witchcraft. U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay called on authorities in Papua New Guinea to investigate such crimes and bring their perpetrators to justice. A 1971 law defining sorcery as a crime in the South Pacific nation should be repealed, Pillay’s spokeswoman said. “We are deeply disturbed by reports of the torture and killing of a...

Kate Upton's dominance of the pop culture landscape is showing no signs of slowing down, as it was revealed on Friday that the 20-year-old supermodel would be gracing the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for the second year in a row. SI writer Bryan Graham sent this tweet out on Friday afternoon, confirming the news, while also passing along a bit of Swimsuit Issue trivia:

KRAEMER, La. -- Roland Torres wants you to know a few things. He lives in a rural area where life is pretty straightforward. His family has been active on the bayou for five generations, witnessing a daily battle of survival of the fittest. The birds, animals and reptiles who inhabit the vast swamps of south-central Louisiana live only as long as their wits and luck hold out. They are on their own 24/7. So is Torres. A former game warden, Torres is of Spanish descent and still speaks the language of his Cajun ancestors: French. He makes a decent...

Sports Illustrated has come to my mailbox for nearly 40 years. I hope it comes for 40 more. But I also hope whomever is assigning the stories in the future begins to think more about the readers than their political and social agendas. Super Bowl week featured a cover of a praying Ray Lewis rising from the water, and a cover story by New York Times’ religion columnist Mark Oppenheimer on Christians in the NFL. The story was enough to cause PJMedia writer Andrew Klavan to declare he would not renew his SI subscription, and most serious Christian athletes are...

Will Governor Cuomo Hear from the Concerned "Vocal Minority?" Albany, NY- Thousands of concerned New Yorkers from around the state will gather on the West side of the NYS Capitol in Albany on Tuesday, February 12th from 11-2 to voice their concerns over the SAFE Act and support the Second Amendment. This event is being sponsored by many pro-Second Amendment Groups, including turn Albany Upside Down, the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA), and S.C.O.P.E. Many pro-Second Amendment supporters were offended to hear their concerns marginalized by Governor Cuomo as "a very vocal minority." Organizers are encouraging Governor...

Are You Exhausted Spiritually? "The everlasting God . . . neither faints nor is weary" —Isaiah 40:28 Exhaustion means that our vital energies are completely worn out and spent. Spiritual exhaustion is never the result of sin, but of service. Whether or not you experience exhaustion will depend on where you get your supplies. Jesus said to Peter, “Feed My sheep,” but He gave him nothing with which to feed them (John 21:17). The process of being made broken bread and poured-out wine means that you have to be the nourishment for other people’s souls until they learn to...

See the Video on YouTube Does this make you feel safe? 6 heavily armed officers of the state - overpaid, and awaiting fat pensions - circle and harass a sweet lady out in the desert collecting rocks. The use of a $5-8million helicopter that costs about $2000 per hour to fly, the six overpaid donut munchers inside and the illegal search of an innocent, harmless lady out collecting rocks is a travesty of justice and the American way. What have they done to our country? Do you feel safe now?

Model Kate Upton has done it again. She is the cover girl for the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue after gracing the magazine cover a year ago as well. Frankly, we like that the cover looks so natural -- no airbrushed on abs. The swimsuit issue this year traveled to all seven continents to shoot the pictorials and it looks as though Upton was one of the polar bares down at the South Pole. Brrrr!

Just in case anyone believes President Obama's shout out to environmentalism and climate change during his inaugural address was just for show, here's a little something to dissuade that false hope. If you don't know who Sally Jewell is, you should educate yourself. She is Obama's choice to replace Ken Salazar as Interior Secretary. The head of REI, a fitness company, she lines right up with the rest of the Obama administration and their radical agenda of combating climate change and pushing environmentalism down our throats. (The Wall Street Journal via Human Events)In naming Sally Jewell as Interior secretary, President...
  • Movement aims to 'reclaim' Valentine's Day as Generosity Day

iving can be addictive. At least that's the hope of the organizers of a movement that's looking to "reclaim" Valentine's Day. For 24 hours, the group is asking people to mark Generosity Day -- and to be generous to everyone "to see how it feels and to practice saying 'yes.'" Generosity Day has its roots in a 2011 30-day Generosity Experiment done by Sasha Dichter of New York. During that time, Dichter said "yes" to everyone who asked for help, according to the "movement's" website, www.spreadgenerosityday.com. In a video of Dichter's presentation at the 2011 NextGEN Charity Conference, Dichter tells...

With President Barack Obama sitting just feet away, Dr. Benjamin Carson stood up for conservative principles in his speech at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast, discussing the national debt, political correctness and even healthcare. Readers loved his speech so much that TheBlaze’s story on it went viral. On Friday, Carson appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” to explain why he felt compelled to speak out against the big government policies endorsed by Obama, in front of Obama. Carson, a renown neurosurgeon, said the response to his speech has been “overwhelmingly” positive. However, he argued he didn’t make a conservative argument, but rather...

In February 1933 the Boeing Aircraft Company -today enduring an extremely difficult period- flew a groundbreaking new plane for the very first time- the Boeing 247. This design could be called the first true airliner, as it featured major innovations -plus the safety and power of twin engines- that made commercial long-range air travel feasible: all-metal construction (no wood frame), retractable landing-gear, variable-pitch propellers, pneumatic de-icing system- even autopilot. With a top speed of 200mph/cruising at 189, the Boeing 247 was able to run a NYC to Los Angeles route in an impressive 20 hours (including 3 fuel stops),...
