Russian nationalist ideologue Alexander Dugin, who has close links to Vladimir Putin's Kremlin, has described his vision of a Russian lead 'Eurasian empire', incorporating Austria, as well as Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. Dugin, who has called for Russia to completely annex Ukraine and exterminate Ukrainians, made the comments in an interview with far-right Hungarian website alfahir.hu, and declares his belief in the necessity of a Eurasian empire to counteract the influence of the "nihilistic" West.

Over the past decade, especially in the struggle over same-sex marriage, some of my friends and allies among social and religious conservatives have called me a defeatist for my culture-war pessimism. I believe that pessimism today is simply realism, and that it is better for us to retreat strategically to a position that we are capable of defending. The cultural battlefield has changed far more than many of us realize.

GAINESVILLE — The North Central Texas College softball team lined up on the third-base line Friday afternoon, each player resting her hand on the shoulder of the teammate in front of her. They stood like so, heads of ponytails and braids bowed, their red jerseys bold against the January gray, in a public moment of silence. The sting of grief has become familiar for this team since an 18-wheeler plowed into the Lady Lions’ team bus last September, killing four players, none yet 21. All 15 of the players riding in the bus and coach Van Hedrick, who started the...

In what's being called a Christmas 'miracle' by Teri Robert's family, just hours before they planned to end her life on Dec. 22, the beloved wife, mother and grandmother opened her eyes. Roberts still faces an uphill battle after she lost four of her limbs from her illness. Teri Roberts' grieving family had already come to terms with her likely death, planning to turn off her ventilator, when they say a "miracle" happened. The 56-year-old wife, mother and grandmother, had been in a spiraling coma for 12 days when just four hours before her family planned to pull the plug,...

THESE WORDS ought to awaken anyone who is not utterly beyond hope. Notice the first two words and the last word. "0 man" and "God." "0 man, who art thou that repliest against God?" Here God and man are put in sharpest contrast, God in His infinite greatness and wisdom and man in his infinitesimal smallness and ignorance. And in the Greek there is also a strong emphasis on the "thou." "0 MAN, who art thou that repliest against GOD?" It will be a happy day for some of us if God will brand that text upon our memories so...

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- George Zimmerman, the Florida man acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin, won't be prosecuted in a domestic violence case, prosecutors said Friday. Zimmerman's former roommate, Brittany Brumelle, has recanted the story she gave police Jan. 5, the State Attorney's Office said. At the time, she told officers who responded that Zimmerman was a "psychopath" and had thrown a wine bottle at her and broken her phone. The officers came to their home after they heard breaking glass and saw a woman driving away without headlights on. Zimmerman was arrested four days later even though Brumelle...
  • Birth certificates ask parents if ‘woman giving birth’ is female [NY City's TransWorldAirHeads]

No, that’s not a typo. A city Health Department form for new parents requesting birth certificates asks the “woman giving birth” if she’s male or female. Along with routine questions — mother’s maiden name, mother’s legal name, mother’s Social Security number — is a gender question that has raised a few eyebrows. And just in case the inquiry is not clear, the birth-certificate request provides a convenient check box and asks the question in capital letters. “What is your DATE OF BIRTH, current AGE and SEX?” the form asks in the section clearly marked “Mother/Parent (Woman Giving Birth).” “To be...

DALLAS — Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) accused Jeb Bush of hypocrisy after The Boston Globe reported the former Florida governor was a heavy marijuana smoker while at an elite prep school. Bush opposed a Florida medical marijuana ballot initiative last year even though he partook liberally of the herb while in high school. “You would think he’d have a little more understanding then,” Paul told The Hill while en route to a political event in Texas. “He was even opposed to medical marijuana,” Paul said of Bush, a potential rival in the 2016 Republican presidential primary. “This is a guy...

Twice this month, the White House has publicly grappled with the politically fraught language of terrorism. In the days after a deadly terror spree in Paris, President Barack Obama was criticized for purposely avoiding calling the attacks an example of “Islamic extremism,” settling for the more generic “violent extremism.” This week, the White House struggled to explain why the administration sometimes classifies the Afghan Taliban as a terrorist organization—and sometimes does not. The rhetorical wrangling underscores the extent to which a president who pledged to end to his predecessor’s war on terror is still navigating how to explain the threats...

How would Sarah Palin do if she decides to run for president? According to her former top-of-the-ticket running mate, quite well. "She's very interesting. And I'm sure she'd do great," Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told The Washington Post Wednesday in a brief interview. After the 2008 presidential election, McCain has consistently praised Palin, despite her clash with his campaign team. Palin has also defended McCain. The former Alaska governor campaigned for the senator in his 2010 reelection bid....

Human rights groups and Venezuela’s opposition are criticizing the government’s new authorization for riot police to use firearms to control protests. Exciting news: Virginia-MassResistance has become the first MassResistance state chapter. It was formed this past year and is off and running! It has an incredible website (www.VirginiaMassResistance.org) and is fearlessly tackling the hard-hitting issues across the state of Virginia. It’s very exciting! They are doing first-rate work. Over the past few years people in several states – and a few foreign countries – have contacted us about forming chapters and taking on the MassResistance brand of activism in their areas. This is hopefully the first of many. Virginia MassResistance was founded and organized by Linda Wall. Linda is an ex-Lesbian...
