Switching to a healthy diet may help pull people from the depths of depression in less than a month, a study has found. Researchers looked at 76 depressed university students whose daily meals were mostly made up of processed foods, sugar, and saturated fats. They found that giving them more fruit, vegetables, fish, and lean meat triggered significant improvements in their mood after just three weeks. Experts say foods that contain lots of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants nourishes the brain and lowers inflammation and 'internal stress' associated with depression. The research by, Macquarie University in Australia, is the latest in...
  • India’s Visa Worker Lobby: Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin Echoes Racial Segregationists

The Indian visa workers who helped Sen. Mike Lee come close to passing his Indian green card giveaway bill are now portraying Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin as a racist for blocking the bill. “Senator Durbin’s argument against the bill is no different from the arguments presented by those against removing segregation and discrimination,” said an October 2 message by the group, titled Immigration Voice (IV). [...] The bill would put roughly 300,000 Indian workers and 300,000 family members at the head of the line for green cards by discarding the decades-old, pro-diversity “country caps” rule. The large population of Indians...

Amazonic Notes #2: It's all decided on married priests Obviously. And this is why this whole expensive charade was assembled. Today, one of the main architects of the German-Austrian Synod on the Amazon region, Erwin Krautler, who was a bishop in the area for many years (years during which the majority of the population, tired of a political church, became Evangelical), said in the press conference following the session that there is “no other option” but to ordain married men as priests in the Amazon, because being unmarried is a "foreign concept" to the indigenous communities. As liberal journalist...

The “Jesus Walks” performer has now invited Pastor Tyson to share sermonettes at his events...He was first seen at a Sunday Service during West’s sold-out show in Detroit last week. The slim, blonde-haired preacher hit the stage after West’s choir, led by James White, performed a few gospel numbers and reimagined mainstream songs with Christian lyrics. “I’m here to tell you that while our God is the judge over the universe, he’s also a God of mercy and he’s a God of love, and he sent his Son to die on a cross because he loves you,” Tyson told the...
  • What the Supreme Court and a Funeral Home Can Teach Us About Civics

On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, Inc. v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The case arose when Harris Funeral Homes, a fifth generation family business, was sued by the EEOC because of its sex-specific dress code. The question before the Court is whether the word “sex” in Title VII and other civil rights laws includes “transgender status.” There is much at stake. A change in the law could force organizations to open women’s shelters to biological men. It could throw open the doors of locker rooms, restrooms and showers to the opposite...

He was put in charge of the fake House impeachment inquiry perhaps because of his penchant for lying about anything at any time and making good on the reputation yet again, here is Democrat Adam Schiff caught engaged in another fabrication. Schiff claimed the Ukraine whistleblower has been receiving “death threats.” Really? How is that possible given no-one is supposed to know who the fake whistleblower even is!??? If Schiff represents the best of the 2019 version of the Democrat Party, that’s a party in some serious trouble. He shouldn’t be trusted to fill a coffee order let alone chair...
  • Californians not giving up trucks, SUVs — setting state up for failure on climate goals

    10/09/2019 2:46:08 PM PDT · by matt04 · 30 replies
California is not on track to meet its greenhouse gas emission goals, in part because Californians just aren’t ready to give up their trucks and SUVs. A new study by nonprofit group Next 10 and Beacon Economics found Californians in late 2018 owned more gas-guzzling pickups, mini-vans and SUVs than they did five years ago. Those vehicles made up 57.3 percent of new vehicle registrations in 2018, compared to 39.3 percent in 2013. ... “Assuming the same rate of reduction from 2016 to 2017, California will reach its 2030 and 2050 goals in 2061 and 2157, respectively — representing a...

  • NBC News chief Andy Lack preyed on female employees for sex: report

NBC News chief Andrew Lack — once accused of mishandling sexual harassment complaints at the Peacock Network — preyed on female underlings and pursued sexual relationships with them, according to one of his alleged victims. Lack’s alleged behavior is detailed in Ronan Farrow’s upcoming book, “Catch and Kill” — an excerpt of which was obtained Wednesday by The Post. In it, Jane Wallace, an anchor on CBS’s “West 57th” news show when Lack was an executive producer in the late 1980s, discussed her affair with the then-married news man. Lack, 72, a close friend of ousted “Today” show anchor Matt...

[Catholic Caucus] Francis Warns New Cardinals They Must Be Loyal to Him On October 5, 2019, the day before the opening of the infamous Amazon Synod, Pope Francis made 13 new cardinals in a consistory. America Magazine bragged upon announcement of the new cardinals that they were made in Francis’ own “image.” In addition to further packing the Sacred College with radicals and modernists who will choose the next supreme pontiff, Francis took the opportunity to engage in his favorite pastime, attacking his critics. As reported by The Tablet, Francis played the disloyalty card against the few prelates who have shown...

Supporters of President Donald Trump protested Wednesday outside the City Hall office of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who has been in a public spat with the Trump campaign over the $530,000 security bill for Thursday’s Target Center rally. Chants of “We support our police, Frey do you?” and “Trump, Trump, Trump!” rang out for about a half-hour as the crowd of about two dozen people mobilized outside of Frey’s office. The mayor was not present, in observance of Yom Kippur. Plans for the rally first surfaced late Tuesday afternoon when the national coordinator of Bikers for Trump posted a Facebook...

Outgrowing Richard Dawkins’ God Delusions Richard Dawkins, one-time leader of the now-fracturing New Atheist movement, has just released another anti-God book, Outgrowing God: A Beginner’s Guide. It’s a sad display of what can happen when an influential scientist thinks the whole intellectual world exists inside his own head. It’s not just that I disagree with Dawkins’ conclusions. I certainly do; but there’s another problem he ought to care about himself. He makes faith look ridiculous by misrepresenting it, yet without even seemingly knowing that’s what he’s doing. He’s oblivious. Not a good sign for a man of his influence. He should  know...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday said he will send a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicating that Senate Republicans will not impeach President Trump over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying “she can stop now.” Speaking to Fox News, Graham, who is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he will ask other Senate Republicans to sign a letter to Pelosi that said they “do not believe the transcript of the phone call between the president and Ukraine is an impeachable offense.” “They’re about to destroy the nation for no good reason,” Graham...

Among Americans under 30, 52% say that ‘most’ rich people in the United States got rich ‘by taking advantage of other people.’ In contrast, a strong 72% majority of seniors over 65 say that most wealthy people in America ‘earned their wealth’ without exploiting people. Americans under 30 were also much more ambivalent toward capitalism and supportive of socialism. The survey found support for capitalism and socialism nearly evenly split among young Americans, with 49% saying they are favorable toward capitalism, and 50% saying they are favorable toward socialism.

Weather forecasters expect the wildland fire danger in some areas of California to be extreme Tuesday night and into Thursday. Strong north to northeast winds accompanied by low humidity has triggered Red Flag Warnings putting land managers on edge. PG&E is so worried it is proactively turning off the electrical power to 600,000 addresses in nearly 30 northern, central, coastal, and Bay Area counties. We consulted a fairly new fire danger forecasting tool to see how it analyzed what firefighters will be faced with for the next few days. The Hot-Dry-Windy Index (HDW) is described as being very simple and...
  • The American People’s Moral Pulse Is Stronger Than American Elites’

The American people have a stronger moral pulse than America’s leaders in government, business, media, universities and entertainment — often clumped together as “elites.” And I think this is true in a bi-partisan nature if talking politics: Basic registered Democrats have a stronger moral pulse than Democratic leaders and ditto for basic registered Republicans and Republican leaders. Exceptions abound, but in a broad sense, this seems to be true and demonstrated regularly. Let’s take the latest item in the news that adds to the evidence pile. The NBA’s craven, knee-jerk reaction to the Houston Rockets’ General Manager tweeting out his...
