Three Democratic members of the Staunton, Virginia, city council were ousted by Republicans on Tuesday despite receiving more votes than they did four years ago. Republican candidates Mark Robertson, Amy Darby, and Steve Claffey all joined incumbent Andrea Oakes in a four-seat GOP sweep, WHSV reported. The three incoming council members replaced Democratic incumbents Erik Curren, Ophie Kier, and James Harrington all almost doubled their vote totals from 2016, yet still lost. Local outlet Augusta Free Press reporter Chris Graham called the results “stunning almost beyond words.” “Democrats got their voters out better than they have in a May cycle...

Two Round the Clock Diner locations in York County were told their business licenses are revoked as of Friday. Written warnings were issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture on May 14 to both locations at 222 Arsenal Road and 145 Memory Lane, according to the department’s spokeswoman Shannon Powers. But, because they reopened ahead of Gov. Tom Wolf’s timeline, the state revoked both business licenses. Powers wrote in an email, "The Agriculture Department’s food safety inspectors did follow-up inspections on May 20 and found the businesses still in violation of Governor Wolf’s March 19 executive order. Both locations were...

Across the US, at least 55 million US students are learning at home since schools closed to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Even prior to the pandemic, two Harvard Law School professors expressed their concerns about homeschooling due to the risks for child abuse and low-quality education. Calls to child abuse hotlines have declined dramatically since schools closed, demonstrating that there are fewer people assessing risks among children. After much deliberation, most schools across the US made the tough decision in March to close their doors and move to a remote learning platform to help stem the spread of...

“I Will Not Leave You as Orphans” (John 14:1-6, 18-19) It was a day in May of 1996. And on that day my mother, Marjorie Henrickson, died. My father had died some years earlier, and now my mother died. I realized on that day that now I was truly an orphan. The next morning was a Sunday, and the Holy Gospel for that day, which I had prepared to preach on, was the passage from John 14 in which Jesus says, “I will not leave you as orphans.” Suddenly that text became extra meaningful for me. Fast forward to a...

The Rev. Anna Reeves considers herself fortunate that her church, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Silver Spring Twp., sits on sprawling property. “It’s just a wonderful place for outdoor activity,” she said. On Sunday, Reeves is going to take advantage of that ample outdoor space and use it to gather with her congregation in worship while adhering to strict social distancing protocol to protect her faith community from the coronavirus. “I don’t think it’s safe yet to go into the sanctuary. It’s really not,” she said. “Our plan is to abide clearly by the state’s guidelines of having no...

Governments around the world have decried the Chinese regime’s proposed national security law for Hong Kong, a move seen as a major blow to the city’s autonomy. The UK, Australia, and Canada in a joint statement on Friday said they were “deeply concerned” by the plans. The regime’s rubber-stamp parliament is set to pass a law, bypassing Hong Kong’s legislature, to ban “treason, secession, sedition, and subversion.” The legislation could also see the regime’s securities agencies set up bases in the city. “Making such a law on Hong Kong’s behalf without the direct participation of its people, legislature or judiciary...

I am very tired of Joe Biden. My vote for him was already hanging by a thread before his disastrous interview with Charlamagne tha God on Friday. Interrupting the Breakfast Club host’s explanation that black people needed assurances that our communities will benefit from his presidency, Biden asserted: “If you’ve got a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or for Trump, then you ain’t black.” Again, I am very tired of Joe Biden. Not because I am a purist, or have inflexible ideological commitments of what it will take to remove Donald Trump from office. But rather because Biden’s...

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, warned Friday that stay-at-home orders that are intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus could end up causing “irreparable damage” if they are imposed for too long. “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go,” Fauci said during an interview with CNBC. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said "now is the time, depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to begin to seriously...

The pontificate of Pope Francis – why should we expect a divine intervention today? LifeSite’s John-Henry Weston yesterday delivered the following talk at the Roman Life Forum — In these times of Coronavirus it has become for me clear that we are living in the end times, at least as that pertains to the chastisement predicted by Our Lady of Fatima in 1917. Today the greatest deprivation of all time has taken place. For the first time in history the greater part of Catholic humanity has been deprived of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.We will never be able to...

During an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, the Texas Democrat pushed back on the claim that Biden made a major gaffe when he told The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God on Friday morning that "if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black." "That was not what the vice president said in terms of those words, and if we had listened to the earlier conversation, we would know that the vice president wants to put his record forward. He knows that everyone has their own historical, moral standing on...

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minnesota — The Minnesota State Agricultural Society Board voted to cancel the 2020 Minnesota State Fair due to the coronavirus pandemic. The decision came in a virtual meeting Friday, in which board members met via a Zoom conference call. "This is the time of year when things really need to take off, and we can't do it. There's not time," said general manager Jerry Hammer. Hammer said fair officials have monitored how other events with high attendance are handling the pandemic as a guide, including Major League Baseball and Disney. "If somehow we were able to cobble a...

The Western Lakes Fire District of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, shared an explosive photograph Thursday as a warning to all you motorists trying to be hyper-vigilant about the coronavirus this summer. Leave your hand sanitizer in a hot car and your vehicle’s interior could end up a fire scene. “By its nature, most hand sanitizer is alcohol-based and therefore flammable,” the fire officials wrote on Facebook May 21, alongside a photo of a driver-side door interior that had been mangled and melted by hand sanitizer.

Former Bernie Sanders campaign co-chair Nina Turner on Friday blasted Joe Biden over the comments -- which he later walked back -- about black voters choosing between him and President Trump in November's election. Earlier in the day, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee raised eyebrows during an interview with Charlamagne tha God on the radio show "The Breakfast Club" as he defended his record with the black community. “I tell you if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden said. Turner offered a blistering response to the progressive media outlet...

The suspect who was shot dead as he carried out Thursday's 'terrorism-related' attack on a Texas naval air base has been identified by the FBI as a 20-year-old Syrian-born college student. According to investigators, Adam Salim Alsahli opened fire at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in an attack that wounded one sailor, a member of the base security force, but no one other than the assailant was killed. A group that monitors online activity of jihadists has since claimed that Alsahli voiced support for hardline Islamic clerics on social media prior to the thwarted attack.

I need a list of email address for Senators and Congress. What I'm finding is that you have to go to each members home page and give them a ton of personal info before you get to the message. This could take hours. Does anyone have a simple list of email addresses or know where I can find them?
