Over the past few years the National Rifle Association has made some highly questionable decisions regarding legislation in Washington and the politicians with whom it associates itself. One of the most glaring of those questionable decisions leads to this crucial question--why does the NRA support Harry Reid? (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak). Birds of a feather--Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Harry Reid, of course, is the U.S. Senator from Nevada who serves as Senate Majority Leader for the Democrat-controlled Congress. Reid is also the one who stated that the income tax is 'voluntary,' that extremist Leftist Elena Kagan is a good choice...

Congressional Democrats returning this week to the Washington they control will confront an embarrassing pile of unfinished budget business after spending the winter and spring blowing deadline after deadline.

There's no article, yet. You can get the data here: http://www.gallup.com/poll/127988/Election-2010-Key-Indicator-Trends.aspx I didn't link in the Source URL, because I can't post the original article, and these comments are *not* an excerpt. It's hard to tell what's going on here. The vote in the three partisan subgroups didn't move much at all: 1% fewer Democrats will vote for the Democrat candidate (93-5), but so will 1% fewer Republicans vote for the Republican candidate (94-3). The GOP vote among Independents only grew by 1%, and the Democrat vote among Independents shrunk by only 2%. So apparently, the shift was among voters...

Throughout the history of this blog, I have always stressed that in order to reclaim our country we need to elect limited government conservatives. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to speak with Matthew Berry, a Republican candidate for the House of Representatives in the 8th district. Over the last week or so, he has been seeking the endorsement of conservative Virginia bloggers, and has already gained the support of Bearing Drift, On the Right, and many more. Although his campaign website is a wealth of information, I wanted to learn a bit more about him. Besides being articulate and...

Yesterday, former Air Force and CIA veteran Gary Berntsen announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate to unseat Charles "Chucky" Schumer. He spoke with Freedom Radio last night; here is the audio.

Bring it on, says Nancy Pelosi, dismissing GOP election hopes By Bob Cusack and Jared Allen – 05/19/10 08:47 PM ET Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a message for Republicans this fall: Bring it on. A buoyant Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday basked in the Democrats’ special-election triumph while bashing Republicans and expressing confidence that her party will retain control of the House. In an interview with The Hill, the Speaker said it was very important to her that Democrats retain the late Rep. John Murtha’s (D-Pa.) seat, which they did Tuesday night. Pelosi, who was very close with Murtha, said Republicans...

The Daily Politics by Celeste Katz May 19, 2010 2:44 PM 8 Comments David Malpass and... Bruce Blakeman's Dog? What The... » By Celeste Katz And I thought I was being silly by posting that cartoon this morning! Someone (who, incidentally, won't tell me who he or she is) is passing around the below video, which purports to lump GOP Senate hopeful David Malpass in with the likes of Enron's Ken Lay. It also features a quick flash from an old commercial by a current rival of Malpass, Bruce Blakeman. Not featured is another GOP challenger to incumbent Sen. Kirsten...

No one has been more startled than this pollster that immigration has burst onto the scene as an issue more significant to most Americans than health care, financial bailouts and the economy. So maybe I'm a better pollster than prognosticator. But I do have enough horse sense to trace the trajectory of a new issue once it gets to be headline news. Arizona's new illegal-immigration law requires that state residents have on their persons proof of legal residency -- but now they can only be asked for this proof under carefully restricted circumstances. The law immediately ignited a firestorm of...

There’s a lot of political ferment and discontent out there, a sense that the political universe may be reordering itself in unpredictable ways. And over the weekend, it claimed a prominent victim. From Politico: “SALT LAKE CITY — It’s on. The first incumbent of the 2010 election year crashed and burned Saturday, and there’s ample cause for alarm for officeholders everywhere. There was no personal scandal, no whiff of corruption, no silver bullet here. Republican Sen. Robert Bennett was one of the most powerful and likable members of the Senate, he diligently protected Utah’s interests from his post in GOP...

DENVER — When Barack Obama stood before an admiring audience at Mile High Stadium here and accepted his presidential nomination 21 months ago, Democratic leaders crowed about turning Colorado into a reliable stronghold, another step toward building the party’s strength in the West.

You have seen discussion of the California Governor's race on other places on this web site. Today we want to discuss the candidates and campaign for the U.S. Senate nomination to replace Barbara Boxer. Months ago we were in an enviable position, both candidates were pro-life. Pro-life Assemblyman Chuck DeVore was running and Carly Fiorina, who had made public statements of being pro-life. What remained was assertaining just how real those commitments were. Fiorina is the former Chairman of Hewlett-Packard and her pro-life comments were in contrast to the typical Silicon Valley 'culture' of monied Republicans. Her pro-life commitment meant...

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, a senior member of the congressional Democratic leadership, will announce Wednesday that he is not seeking re-election this November, Democratic sources told CNN....

The New Majority California, an influential group formed by moderate Republicans in Orange County a decade ago, is backing former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in the three-way Republican race to replace U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer. The group’s chairman, Larry Higby, said the decision was “a relatively close call” between Fiorina and former Rep. Tom Campbell, a fiscal conservative who supported gay marriage and abortion rights. “The main issue was that we felt that Carly had a much better chance to beat Barbara Boxer,” said Higby, adding that Fiorina’s business background and her debating skills were viewed as major assets. “I...

I'm always entertained when older folks try to reach out to people my age. It's hardly ever a pretty sight and most of the time these attempts end up being hilarious. I found myself chuckling at Barack Obama's most recent effort to beg young voters to come out to the polls this November. No one is buying it anymore, especially young people. Even the most liberal of my generation are frustrated with the President... The radical environmentalists on college campuses across the country were furious when Obama opened up the coasts for limited drilling. Young Americans are realizing they did...

The Fuller Campaign Committee has released the first exit poll from early voting. The poll, which was conducted Saturday, May 1st, included results for races from U.S. Congress, State Senate, and New Hanover County Commissioners. In the U.S. Congressional race, numbers are looking good for Will Breazeale. The results show Breazeale leading his nearest primary challenger, Ilario Pantano, 51.7 to 41.4%. "We are very pleased that the early numbers are trending our way," observed Breazeale. "However, this race is still a long way from being over. We need each and every one of our dedicated voters to get out on...

On Saturday, May 1st, Breazeale for Congress is fueling up. The campaign invites everyone to join them at 8:00 a.m. at Wayne's Exxon, 3502 Oleander Drive in Wilmington (in front of Independence Mall), as they give away free gas to volunteers that are stepping up for conservative values. Each car in attendance that holds at least one person that is currently serving or willing to sign up as a volunteer for Breazeale for Congress, will receive up to $20 in free gas. "We know driving around this ten county district, knocking on doors, and meeting voters takes fuel. This fuel...

Unlike say, Nic Cage or Lindsay Lohan, Beyonce Knowles is living the life. She and her husband Jay-Z are worth a reported $265 million and she's still the hottest singer on radio. But did you know Beyonce's father Matthew Knowles owns a block of property in Galveston, Texas that was devastated by Hurricane Ike? And did you know that FEMA is going to pay Beyonce and her father a cool $425,000 to reimburse them for close to the original value of the house? Yep, it's true, according to an excellent report from Mother Jones. The house is one of 68...

This is posted on their website: Creating Jobs: I believe that our nation’s top priority should be getting people back to work and growing our economy. Having worked in our family’s business for 21 years, I know that small and family-owned businesses are the true job creators and innovators in our country. ... Reducing the Deficit ... Restoring Fiscal Accountability ... Protecting America ... Health Care: During the healthcare debate, I was appalled at the process used by Obama, Reid and Pelosi, and voted for by Feingold, to force through a health care overhaul plan that will cost taxpayers at...
