A specially appointed federal panel of judges has dismissed all 83 ethics complaints brought against Justice Brett Kavanaugh regarding his conduct at his confirmation hearings. The judges concluded that while the complaints "are serious," there is no existing authority that allows lower court judges to investigate or discipline Supreme Court justices. The complaints against Kavanaugh ranged from allegations that he had misled the Senate about some of his activities in the George W. Bush White House to his angry, partisan statements in denying charges of sexual assault in high school.

The Justice Department and FBI have missed a Wednesday deadline to provide information about the government's mysterious raid on a former FBI contractor-turned-whistleblower's home last month. Sixteen FBI agents on Nov. 19 raided the home of Dennis Nathan Cain, who reportedly gave the Justice Department's Inspector General (IG) documents related to the Uranium One controversy and potential wrongdoing by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A group of civil rights organizations is pushing technology companies to create policies to more effectively address hate speech and extremist groups. The six organizations, joined by 40 other organizations who echoed the call, wrote in a report that they want the platforms to take more firm stances against “racism, sexism, xenophobia, religious bigotry, homophobia and transphobia,” and enforce policies against hate speech and extremist groups more strictly. Billboards showing evangelist Pastor Greg Laurie holding a Bible were removed from popular Southern California malls after numerous complaints. Laurie, who leads the multi-campus Harvest Christian Fellowship, contracted a real estate company to post the billboards to promote an upcoming SoCal Harvest event at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. The billboards were displayed at several locations, including Fashion Island in Orange County and the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine. After receiving complaints -- including a "serious threat" -- the company asked that the billboards be revised to remove the image of the Bible.

A federal judge on Wednesday refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a Chatham mother who says the school district forced her son to watch Islamic conversion videos and ignored the study of Christianity and Judaism. Pressure is mounting against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for its controversial partnership with the San Diego Unified School District in developing an anti-Islamophobia bullying initiative that was enacted last April. Investigative subpoenas were issued Wednesday afternoon to CAIR’s chapter in California that seek all communications and documents concerning its involvement in creating the allegedly unconstitutional initiative.
