  • Comparing Andy Biggs to Harry Reid: Palin blasts AZ Senate president on constitutional convention

    04/23/2014 4:10:42 PM PDT · by 2ndDivisionVet · 25 replies
    The Arizona Capitol Times ^ | April 22, 2013 | Ben Giles
Arizona’s Senate president is under fire from an unlikely source within his own political party: Sarah Palin. The former vice presidential candidate took to Facebook on Tuesday to chastise Senate President Andy Biggs as the “only man standing in the way” of a vote on a measure to call an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Palin notes that similar measures have already been approved in several states. But she said thanks to Biggs, a Gilbert Republican and leader of the GOP in the Senate, Arizona’s opportunities to approve SCR 1016 are rapidly dwindling. Legislatures in...

The New York Times has apologized for the picture it chose to go along with an article it published about last week’s brutal murder of IDF soldier Eden Atias. Rather than showing a photo of the soldier, the article entitled “Attack on Israeli Worsens Tensions With Palestinians” instead featured a photo of the 16-year-old terrorist’s mother as she was visited by her relatives. On Tuesday, the newspaper’s public editor Margaret Sullivan posted a blog in which she admitted that using the mother’s photo was the wrong decision.
  • 10,000-word New Yorker article on rise in homelessness mentions ‘Barack Obama’ zero times

The New Yorker magazine’s latest issue features a nearly 10,000 word article on the rise in homelessness in New York City — but the piece doesn’t mention the name “Barack Obama” a single time. According to the article, the number of homeless in New York City has exploded in recent years. “For baseball games, Yankee Stadium seats 50,287. If all the homeless people who now live in New York City used the stadium for a gathering, several thousand of them would have to stand,” the article opens. “More people in the city lack homes than at any time since ....

I need help. This started about a week ago. I click a headline to read the article and when I return to the article index it has updated to a different place and loads all article headlines that have posted while I was reading. Can anyone tell me how to stop this and make it the way it was? i. e. return to where I left.

Earlier today Forbes posted an excerpt from the book Hope Is Not a Strategy by John Mariotti and D. M. Lukas. The author provided an excerpt from the book for the article where he describes Barack Obama as a “manufactured candidate” whose history remains sealed. Mariotti then calls Obama the “Manchurian candidate.” But, after the article was posted for a few hours it suddenly disappeared down the memory hole. Here is the original article. “There is something very wrong when the sitting president refuses to divulge huge pieces of information about his background. What is he hiding? Maybe the “birthers”...

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will investigate whether or not the student NAACP chapter violated UNC’s non-discrimination policy in dismissing senior Billy Thomas, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Winston Crisp said. On Sunday, members of the NAACP unanimously voted to remove Thomas, who is a segregationist, for his views on race relations. Billy had been a member of the group since his freshman year. “We are on notice that there is a question as to whether or not a student organization has acted in compliance with the policy or not,” Crisp said. “We take that very seriously...

This past Friday, my article “Meet the New Soviets: Gingrich, Walker, Breitbart”, was yanked from the Huffington Post after being up for 8 hours. (My article is still not up, but you can read it here.) The reasons it was pulled are troubling to me and should be a concern to anyone who wonders about the future editorial directions of Huffington Post. As a bit of background, I’m a national security policy wonk from out West who has settled in DC. I’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the Huffington Post–where I have blogged on national security and politics for 4...

The Communist Party USA has scrubbed its website of references that stated it "actively supported" President Obama's election. An article posted on the party's official website on Dec. 30, 2007, previously stated, "Our Party actively supported Obama during the primary election." The article was referring to Obama's 2004 election to the Senate. It detailed how the African-American community and trade unionists played key roles in defeating the "ultra right." "This was also reflected in the historic election of Barack Obama. Our Party actively supported Obama during the primary election," stated the article, a screen shot of which was captured by...

I don't believe I can post a link to Huffington Post, but click on their site and read the remarks to this latest revelation and see the magazine cover. President Barack Obama will write the cover story for next week's Newsweek magazine. The Wall Street Journal's Russell Adams reports that Newsweek editor Jon Meacham asked Obama's senior advisor if the President would write for the magazine, and he agreed. The magazine will hit newsstands on Monday. When Newsweek unveiled its redesign in May 2009, the magazine also turned to Obama; Meacham interviewed Obama for that issue. Developing...

(IsraelNN.com) The Swedish government distanced itself Thursday from an ambassador's condemnation of an article accusing Israeli troops of stealing Palestinian Authority Arabs' organs. The Swedish Foreign Ministry clarified that, unlike Ambassador to Israel Elisabet Borsiin Bonnier, it does not view the article as “appalling.” In addition to calling the article “shocking and appalling,” Bonnier said, “freedom of the press and freedom of expression are freedoms which carry a certain responsibility.”

Moderator- Following is a suggestion to add a feature to this board. Feel free to move this as it is clearly not news. I post it here because I hope that it will generate the greatest amount of feedback. I have no programming experience whatsoever so I don't know if it is possible or if it were possible if it can be done cost effectively, but the suggestion would be to rate the stories posted on a scale from 1 to 10 and then show the top rated stories in a sidebar similar to the "Breaking News" sidebars on the...

Most of us condemn George. W. Bush for his main role in war on terror, people should realize before they show him the point of your accusing finger. He, started the war to erase terrorists forever from the world. He has been the true strength on whom the whole of America could rest, he has maintained the law & order very nicely in his regime. After the 9/11 attacks, there has been nothing not even a small attack, he made sure that all entry & exit points were guarded with care. Instead of blaming poor President Bush for everything, we...

Once upon a time, in a ward you know, a visitor attended on an average Sunday. It was a happy, pleasant ward, with great diversity. Children, youth, and adults of many ages sat together in sacrament meeting. The building seemed well kept, the leaders well organized, the lessons well taught. The visitor thought as she observed, "What lucky people live in this ward. What a warm, inviting place this must be. They must truly love one another." She decided to come again, not to look but to listen to what these people said about their relationships. This is what she...
