When RFK Jr. was asked about an “assault weapons” ban, the question was framed to reflect strong Democrat support for such a measure. The rifle used by the alleged 22-year-old attacker who killed five at Colorado Springs’ Club Q Saturday night was purchased “legally.” ABC News reported the officials briefed on the investigation into the attack say the attacker “legally purchased” his rifle. The officials who spoke with ABC News officials also pointed out that the attacker’s “2021 arrest may not have appeared on background checks because the case does not appear to have been adjudicated.”

A Methodist Health System officer shot and injured a gunman in the Methodist Dallas Medical Center Saturday, ending a threat that had already resulted in two deaths. ABC News reported an individual shot and killed two hospital employees around 11 a.m. Saturday, prompting reports of an active shooter in the facility. Methodist Health System-affiliated police responded and an officer found the suspect and shot and injured him.
