"I see no contradiction between...concern for the general good coupled with an interest in private advancement...It simply attests a belief shaped by our history-the belief that the individual American prospers through the prosperity rather than through the impoverishment of his fellow men...most Europeans think of the rise of one man as implying, always and inevitably, the fall of another, or many others...total wealth of their community as more or less fixed, if not dwindling, so that the gains for one group necessarily mean losses for the rest."

I don't know how in the world they will be comfortable bending over and kissing the carpet while praying with all this tension. I would think they would forever be concerned and have on the forefront of their minds the WHAT IF this happens and (God Forbid) WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN retaliation scenarios.

In the Great Depression, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was enacted in 1930 to make goods imported from overseas more expensive to American consumers than domestic goods. The thought was to incentivize the purchase of U.S.-made goods during a devastating economic downturn, boosting the bottom lines for American businesses. While Smoot-Hawley did not cause the Great Depression, there is wide consensus that the trade war it provoked made it much worse. U.S. exports took a big hit immediately as the world retaliated, dropping from $3.84 billion in 1930 to $2.08 billion in 1931, and bottoming out in 1932 and 1933 at...

The Post & Email has made contact with a highly credible individual who was born and raised in Indonesia. Here he explains the significance of the term “Soebarkah,” which first appeared to the American public on July 29, 2010 on passport application forms released by the Bureau of Customs and Border Control to Mr. Christopher Strunk, who had filed a lawsuit in November 2008 after his FOIA request was denied.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents overwhelmingly say that their department’s leadership has become politicized to the point of affecting the effectiveness of ICE. ICE agents through their union claim their leaders have little regard for the safety of American people. Their union has released a letter announcing its recent unanimous “vote of no confidence” in ICE agency heads, accusing them of “misleading the American public” regarding illegal immigration in order to further a pro-amnesty agenda. The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and its affiliated local councils cast a unanimous 259-0 vote of no confidence in ICE Director John...

Joy Tiz ©2010 The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government -Thomas Jefferson California voters have long been scoffed at by activist judges substituting their own agenda in place of the law. The ignominious Jerry Brown state Supreme Court appointee, Rose Bird, habitually overturned death penalty cases because she personally didn’t approve of the death penalty. The people of the Golden State eventually threw her out of office. The California voters passed Proposition 187 in 1994 by a margin of a mere 58.93%. Prop 187 would have, in accordance with Article II, Section 8 of...

Senate Democrats want to kill a controversial part of their own healthcare law that imposes new tax burdens on small businesses. The proposal — introduced Thursday by Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) with the support of party leaders — would eliminate a new tax filing requirement that many conservatives, backed by the business community, deem a job killer...The Democrats bill...would pay to eliminate the small business provision by killing a tax break for the nation's oil giants, including BP. The action comes as Republicans hit President Obama and Democrats hard over the economy. Businesses are not hiring enough to lower the...

Proving once again that our official "expecters" don't have a clue, today's eagerly anticipated Labor Department reports showed the unemployment rate still at a devastating 9.5%. As if that weren't enough bad news, the economy shed more jobs than expected in July as overall unemployment fell by 131,000.

Apparently if your child draws a flag in class, the student better put it in a circle so as not to offend the teacher. “The principal of a Central Coast school thrust in the national media spotlight over a drawing of the American flag said a teacher accused of calling the drawing offensive is ready to bring closure,” KSBW reported from Salinas, California on May 13, 2010. “Earlier this month, a seventh-grader at Gavilan View Middle School said her teacher told her to stop drawing a picture of the American Flag and called it offensive before praising another student’s drawing...

Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who for more than a year has been nearly silent on her role in the forced unionization of more than 40,000 home day care providers, boasted of her involvement at a national union convention in 2008. In this stunning video, the governor admits her role in the forced unionization of day care providers.

State Sen. Russell Pearce, the chief architect of Arizona’s tough immigration law, tells Newsmax that the recent court ruling on the law was a “huge win” for Americans fighting to stem the flow of illegal aliens in this country. Pearce, a Republican who represents parts of suburban Phoenix, also says the law “scares” the Obama administration because it will lead to the enforcement of immigration laws — and agrees that Obama’s failure to enforce those laws is an “impeachable” offense. A highly decorated former law officer, Pearce crafted and co-sponsored Arizona SB1070, the immigration bill that was passed in April....

When it first came out, I predicted that the Michael Moore “health care documentary” Sicko would soon be used in college courses. I was off: It’s being used in a high school. “Dismayed that her literature and composition final required analyzing Michael Moore’s Sicko, Missouri high school senior Celeste Finkenbine filed a complaint with her principal,” The Education Reporter reports. “The 18-year-old said the screed against the American health care system is ‘so far on the left side I don’t think it should have been shown in school,’ and that the teacher called her a ‘teabagger’ (a sexual slur) in...

Imagine what would happen if the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture would intimidate the department’s employees into abolishing food stamps. Try to envisage a situation in which the Secretary of HUD would direct the department’s bureaucrats to stop granting housing assistance to low income families. Or, what if the director of the EPA would order all environmental regulations to lie dormant and remain unenforced. Now try to envision those respective leaders running around campaigning against their agency’s inherent mission and being exposed by the department’s rank and file. Would there ever be an end to the barrage of media...

I recently sent a letter to Scott Brown for his being a RINO in general and his vote for the Financial Industry Takeover Bill in particular. Here is his boilerplate reply. =================================================== "Thank you for expressing your thoughts on the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act [P.L. 111-203]. As always, I value your input on this and other issues, and strive to keep you updated on the important issues facing us today. "There is little disagreement that significant and forward thinking is needed to properly address regulatory concerns in the financial industry. Despite the contentious beginning to the Senate...

Friendship Song (original acoustic) Listen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FrRsrc19pg You look past mistakes I've made All the hands that I misplayed. Always have a friend to call. Lift my spirits when they fall. You turned 'round to lend a hand. "Here to help." "I understand." I was stranded on the road Fearing my car might explode. I was bedbound late in life Missing my departed wife You came by to share a meal, Lend an ear, ask how I feel. Thank you for the joy you bring You have given everything Don't deserve the gifts you share Thank God I have friends...

Virg Bernero, the mayor of Lansing, Michigan, just won the Democratic nomination for governor of his state, making a state-owned Bank of Michigan a real possibility. Bernero is one of at least a dozen candidates promoting that solution to the states’ economic woes. It is an innovative idea, with little precedent in the United States. North Dakota, currently the only state owning its own bank, also happens to be the only state sporting a budget surplus, and it has the lowest unemployment rate in the country; but skeptics can write these achievements off to coincidence. More data is needed, and...

Every year we give millions of dollars to Mexico in what our government calls 'foreign aid'. If we are serious about stemming the flow of illegal aliens into the U.S. then one of the ways would be to help Mexico stop them before they come over. Let’s begin a program that reduces the amount....

What would you do if your newborn baby was pronounced dead? Cry? Pray? Grieve? At some point you would have to "make arrangements" for the death of your child which would possibly include it's burial. This was the scenario in the city of Tulancingo, Mexico, about an hour Northeast of Mexico City. A baby girl, born in a Tulancingo hospital, was pronounced dead, yet miraculously came back to life at her funeral.
