history lesson 2 by Mia T, 6.21.04 hen the clintons and the clinton historiographers are but a faint if still disturbing memory, and a dispassionate, unbiased history of the clinton (either--"one for the price of two," I say) years is recorded, it will be noted that this unfortunate period was a watershed moment for America and western civilization for this was the beginning of their seemingly inexorable descent into the abyss. It will then say that George W. Bush, the greatest American president, turned it all around, that he courageously and brilliantly fought The Great Terror War...

David Alsobrook, a career archivist who grew up in Mobile, has been named director of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark. Alsobrook, who holds a doctorate in history from Auburn University, formerly served as director of the Clinton Presidential Materials Project. The Clinton Library is set to open Nov. 18. "I've been working on Clinton material since fall of 2000," Alsobrook told the Register on Friday, speaking from Birmingham, where he was delivering a lecture to the Alabama Historical Association. The head position at the library, a permanent slot, "was not a foregone conclusion. Two...

Monica Lewinsky Says Her Past Has Hurt Her Love Life - Wed Nov 19, 1:46 PM ET NEW YORK (Reuters) - Monica Lewinsky says her White House liaison is a liability on the dating scene. The intern infamous for her affair with U.S. President Bill Clinton said in the December issue of GQ magazine that she dates occasionally but her romantic relationships have been short-lived. LAKE FOREST PARK -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton swept through a bookstore here yesterday afternoon, signed close to 2,000 copies of her best-selling memoir, "Living History," in two hours and left behind a dazed crowd of admirers and a dozen Hillary haters. Third Place Books had issued 1,200 passes to customers beforehand. Audrey Nilles, who began planning for the event in May when she learned of Clinton's visit, took the day off work -- along with many others -- and arrived at 8 a.m. with a bundle of books under her arm. The line started moving after 11 a.m., and...

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The federal government should protect parents' rights not to testify against their children, former White House intern and reality TV host Monica Lewinsky wrote in an opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times.

In the op-ed article printed in Sunday's newspaper, Lewinsky said it seemed appropriate on Mother's Day urge Congress to grant that right.

On Feb. 12, 1998, my mother appeared before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Washington, D.C. She was not subpoenaed to testify about a robbery she witnessed, or to describe some aspect of a securities fraud, but to be questioned about me -- her only daughter. I was horrified and sickened. Not unlike many young women, I had confided in my mom -- to a certain extent -- and expected our conversations to remain between us. In a million years I could never have fathomed a situation where we would find our bond -- a deep, important and...

For those who do not know, two of the ultimate Clinton buttboys are Gene Lyons and Joe Conason. I actually had the pleasure of calling Joe Conason a Clinton buttboy on the Gloria Allred Show a few years back. He screamed his head off on the radio and didn't want to talk to me. The two Clintonistas wrote a book called THE HUNTING OF THE PRESIDENT in an attempt to try to save the legacy of the impeached rapist who played in the White House for eight years instead of looking after the defense of this nation. Steven Spielberg is...

Two Silver Lake Regional School District teenagers may face charges for allegedly having sex on a school bus on the way to school as several of their classmates egged them on, according to police. A 15-year-old middle school girl performed oral sex on a 16-year-old high school boy Dec. 12 as the bus traveled its normal route to the high school and junior high school, which are in separate towns, according to police and school officials. The Silver Lake school district includes Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton. Those on the bus who cheered on the couple may also be charged, according...

Al Gore. State election officials ultimately declared George W. Bush the winner by a margin of 537 votes, but during and after the election dispute, questions remained about the uncounted ballots of 175,010 voters, ballots that had been rejected by error-prone tabulating machines employed in many Florida counties. Confusion and conflict, much of it generated by partisan intrigue, prevented these ballots from being counted during the election controversy. However, in 2001 every uncounted ballot was carefully examined in a scientific study by the University of Chicago, which concluded that when all the votes were counted, more votes had been cast...
