Deputies in Wisconsin responded to an unusual call Tuesday night after a driver reported that a bobcat was inside his car and refused to leave, authorities said. "Numerous deputies were curious" when they heard the radio dispatcher describe the call and responded to the driver’s location, Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas wrote on Facebook. Lukas said that the three deputies were "shocked" when they arrived and found a live bobcat inside the vehicle’s front grille. "My deputies are really good at solving problems but this one baffled them so we called in reinforcements with Conservation Warden Bryan Lockman," Lukas wrote....

A Florida man reportedly fended off a bobcat attack on his daughter’s dog by swinging his fists, clocking the wild animal in the face. Paul Broadhurst told Fox 32 Orlando that he was walking the dog, Koda, on Feb. 11 in the Stoneybrook neighborhood of East Orlando when the bobcat pounced. “The bobcat, he clawed into me pretty good, and I end up having to punch the bobcat in the mouth to get it off of me,” Broadhurst said. “He was walking down the sidewalk that bobcat was just over the top of him. He no sooner got there, and...

A native bobcat swipes at a 120-pound Burmese python in the Florida Everglades. in the Everglades captured images of a native male bobcat stumbling upon a python nest and striking at the 120-pound mama snake. Though the python successfully defended her nest, that didn't stop the bobcat, who later returned when the nest was unguarded and feasted on the eggs. Their duel took place the following day, when cameras captured images of "the python's head at striking distance from the rest of her coils near the bobcat's feet," followed by "the bobcat...swiping at the python from the left side of...

For deer hunters this time of year, checking trail camera photos can either be a frustratingly tedious chore or as exciting as Christmas Eve. If your SD card is filled with does and dink bucks, you groan. But then, every once in a while, your cameras capture unique, once-in-a-lifetime images. New England bowhunter Dave Morel recently got some of those. No, they weren’t photos of the next world-record whitetail, but rather of a big bobcat which let curiosity get the best of him. The bobcat leapt and climbed to impressive heights. But ultimately, the scent dripper survived the encounter.

Another bobcat has been photographed by a game camera in a Will County forest preserve. This rare picture of the elusive animal is from the Sand Ridge Savanna Nature Preserve in Custer Township, which uses motion-activated cameras to document animal numbers and movements. "Bobcats can have a wide variety of home range sizes, so that won't help either," Blankenship added. "Logically, if last year's photos showed a mother with two kittens, there is a male out there somewhere too. I'd love to get more photos to help piece this wildlife story together."

A farmer in northern B.C. who caught a lynx in his chicken coop on Sunday didn't react the way one might expect. He didn't grab a gun or yell at the wild animal. Instead, Chris Paulson grabbed the lynx by the scruff of its neck, lifted it off the ground and scooped it from the coop. Then he gave it a gentle scolding. "He just looked ... a bit like [a kid] with its hand in the chocolate chip bag," Paulson told CBC News from his home near Decker Lake, west of Prince George.

With people staying in their homes more these days, they’ve been realizing just how close ‘home’ actually is to wildlife and the outdoors. Take this video of a bobcat chasing a squirrel in a tree for example; This kind of encounter is something you would expect to see in a wildlife documentary shot with ultra high-definition cameras, not someone’s backyard filmed on a cell phone. We’ve watched bobcats make some pretty incredible catches before, but this one was pretty impressive. Especially since the cat outsmarted the squirrel on his own turf!

Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A Tennessee woman who rescued a kitten she spotted running across a road brought the feline into her car and took it home before discovering the creature actually was a baby bobcat. Jill Hicks of Chattanooga said she was driving recently when she spotted the kitten running across the busy road and decided to rescue it. "So I pulled over and surprisingly it didn't run from me," Hicks said in a Facebook post. "I put it in the car with me and it climbed all over me like a kitten would do, got in floorboard under...

There have been some new developments in the case of the black panther reported to have been seen by some rural Prairie du Chien (WI) residents. It has also damaged a cow and two other dogs according to Larry. A panther, an adult male according to Larry, has now been photographed on Larry’s farm. Larry said the panther was photographed by Austin Mezera, 17, who is...

A frightening encounter between a rabid bobcat and Florida Wildlife Officers was captured on camera. Last week, the bobcat got into a North Port home from through an open front door and would not leave. FWC was called to the scene. Officers used a catchpole to try to get the animal out of the family's back porch, but it became aggressive and scratched one of the officers. The feline was eventually removed and later euthanized. Officials said the bobcat tested positive for rabies. Another bobcat attack took place nearby the home the same week. A rabies alert is in effect...

That is a good sized bobcat and a small coyote.  The confrontation took place at my ranch at 0918 on October 9th, 2016, according to the game camera. This shows the coyote 12 minutes earlier.  I suspect she sensed the bobcat at that time, but it did not show up on the camera. I keep the water running to attract wildlife.  The water hole is about 10 yards from the pistol range backstop. Deserts do not support a tremendous biomass, so wildlife is much less common than in many other areas.  I do not have livestock, and have no...

Don't do it this wayThe method you see here are not gold standard of what you should do, this video is bordering on the "ultimate" of what you should absolutely NOT do if you find yourself in this situation. Not much is known about where this video was shot, and if this was their trap or if they were illegally tampering with another trapper’s set, but one thing is for sure, the guy who joins the bobcat release party right at the end has never seen what a bobcat can do when it's angry. Check out the video here.

About 2000 years ago in what is today western Illinois, a group of Native Americans buried something unusual in a sacred place. In the outer edge of a funeral mound typically reserved for humans, villagers interred a bobcat, just a few months old and wearing a necklace of bear teeth and marine shells. The discovery represents the only known ceremonial burial of an animal in such mounds and the only individual burial of a wild cat in the entire archaeological record, researchers claim in a new study. The villagers may have begun to tame the animal, the authors say, potentially...
