Florida Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson called Wednesday for a recount in his race for re-election against Republican Gov. Rick Scott. In a statement from Nelson's office, the longtime incumbent said Scott had prematurely declared victory in the race, which CNN has not yet called. In Florida, an automatic recount is triggered when the final margin is less than .5% and is not triggered by candidate requests. Votes were still being counted Wednesday morning, but Scott's lead was within that margin, according to CNN projections. The initial vote count won't be finalized until Saturday at noon.

Raleigh, N.C. — Democrats across the country may have picked up enough seats to gain control of the U.S. House Tuesday night. But in North Carolina, the party failed to flip any of the congressional seats held by Republicans in races targeted by millions of dollars in political advertising – aside from one race that could come down to a recount. If the unofficial results Tuesday night stand, the makeup of the state's congressional delegation remains unchanged with 10 Republicans and three Democrats.

Project Veritas dropped an undercover video earlier Tuesday showing election officials admitting “tons” of non-citizens are voting in Texas. O’Keefe’s undercover video caught the attention of Texas Governor Gregg Abbott. “This will be investigated,” Abbott said of the non-citizens being encouraged to vote by election officials. In the video, a Project Veritas undercover journalist asked a Texas election official if her “DREAMer” boyfriend can vote as long as he is registered to vote and has a driver’s license. “Yeah okay” the election official responded. “If he has his ID that’s all he needs. If he’s registered,” the election official said...

President Donald Trump issued a triumphant tweet about Tuesday's midterm elections "Tremendous success tonight," Trump said. "Thank you to all!" Republicans made significant gains in the Senate, picking up key seats from incumbent Democrats in states where Trump won in 2016 and also turning back possible challenges in high-profile states like Texas. Holding the Senate gives Trump the opportunity to continue the historic pace of judicial nominations that have dominated the chamber's calendar in recent months. The GOP also got major wins in toss-up governors races in states like Florida and Ohio

One of the top abortion activists in the Senate has gone down in defeat. Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill fell behind to pro-life candidate Josh Hawley after announcing her opposition to U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and ultimately she lost her re-election bid today. A pro-abortion Democrat, McCaskill was considered one of the most vulnerable senators running for re-election in the November midterms. Josh Hawley, an attorney and former clerk to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, serves as Missouri’s attorney general. Prior to his time as the top prosecutor for the state, he was an appellate litigator and senior...

Alabama voters proved once again that when people get a chance to go to the polls they generally vote for unborn children. And they did just that tonight by approving a amanemdment saying unborn babies have a right to life. The proposed constitutional amendment asked voters to “affirm that it is the public policy of this state to recognize and support the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of unborn children, most importantly the right to life in all manners and measures appropriate and lawful.” The amendment also would guarantee that “the constitution of this state does not protect...
