CNN reporter Brian Stelter lost his temper during a BBC Radio 4 roundtable at the suggestion that mainstream media newsrooms had shown poor ethics and a double standard in their breathless reporting of the “Russia collusion” hoax. The panel discussion discussed censorship of the recent story about Hunter Biden’s emails, which many newsrooms ignored and the Silicon Valley social media companies actively suppressed. Stelter supported the suppression, saying that the tech companies needed to do more of it.

With President Trump actively distorting the truth and many of his own colleagues helping him do it, the Fox News star prided himself on anchoring a newscast that countered the network's pro-Trump opinion shows. The way Smith saw it, he was making sure that accurate information was getting on Fox's air. "I wonder," he told a Time magazine reporter last year, "if I stopped delivering the facts, what would go in its place in this place that is most watched, most listened, most viewed, most trusted? I don't know."

Before speaking to Media Matters president Angelo Carusone about Sean Hannity, CNN’s Brian Stelter proposed a name change for the Fox News host’s primetime show. “I think it’s time for a renaming,” Stelter said, “It really is the Hillary Clinton horror show. Let’s call it the Clinton scandal hour.” Hannity has, of course, devoted a lot of coverage to Clinton scandals, possibly reaching his peak last week with a massive six-part Clinton conspiracy chart.
