When more important matters die down, I will have more to say about Senator Bob Corker’s rant on Fox News last week, accusing me of making “purposeful misstatements” about his legislation that enabled President Obama to get his Iran Deal through Congress. The Senator was provoked when Fox’s Bret Baier read from a column I wrote last year.

$11 Billion In Missing Obamacare Subsidies From Mass Tax NoncomplianceComplications arising from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits (PTCs) are causing millions of people to effectively break the law. People who benefit from advance premium tax credits (APTCs) must file tax returns and include a form to reconcile the advanced amount to the actual end-of-year entitled amount. The failure of so many people to fulfill this new legal requirement has led the government to spend more than it should have as APTCs tend to be higher than legally entitled amounts. The big news is that tax filers,...

Earlier in the summer, a hacker going by the moniker “Peace,” said that he would be selling credentials on 200 million Yahoo users from 2012 on the dark web for little more than $1,800. One...

Republicans should run a commercial showing riot footage, Islamic attacks, other violence caught on camera, Obama and Hillary disparaging the police, and the Baltimore mayor saying we "gave those who wished to destroy space." On top of this, place the overlay, "WHEN DEMOCRATS ARE IN POWER, AMERICA BURNS" What else would you put in the commercial?

High-flying free speech in downtown Pendleton drew critical eyes this week. Viola and Sam Moody’s Liberty Flags & Gifts from Sutherlin is near the intersection of South Main Street and Emigrant Avenue. The business is one of many operating under the umbrella of the local nonprofit Main Street Cowboys during Round-Up. But it was the only booth displaying versions of the Confederate flag. “We’ve been selling them like crazy,” Viola Moody said. They take the business to about 30 events a year, she said, and the flags are popular wherever they go. Young people seeking to show their rebellious side...

What’s for lunch? If it’s a homemade sandwich or last night’s leftovers, you may be in good company. An increasing number of Americans are ditching $10 sandwiches and $12 salads in favor of food from home, according to new data from the research firm NPD Group. Lunch traffic is slowing at restaurants around the country, with weekday lunch visits down 7 percent compared to a year ago, the steepest decline since the beginning of the recession, data show. The reason? Nearly 40 percent of Americans now work from home (at least on some days), according to Gallup, and lunch out...

Life has a way of testing your mental strength when you least expect it. The true sign of mental strength doesn’t lie in what you do; it’s what you don’t and absolutely won’t do. The greater the challenge, the more difficult it is to respond with mental fortitude. It’s hard to be mentally strong, especially when you feel stuck. The ability to break the mold and take a bold new direction requires that extra grit, daring, and spunk that only the mentally strongest people have. Thomas Edison provides an interesting example. When his factory burned to the ground in 1914,...

The Republican nominee is ahead in four battleground states won by Obama in 2012, Iowa, Ohio, Florida and North Carolina. If he were to win those four states plus Nevada, Trump would be one state away from winning the presidency, concluded Ben Shapiro in the Daily Wire. The Washington Post reported Monday the Clinton campaign is now "pessimistic" about winning Iowa and Ohio, and they believe Florida and North Carolina will be close, Shapiro noted. Shapiro pointed out that while Clinton maintains a strong lead in Pennsylvania - 6.6 points according to the RealClearPolitics average - there are other battleground...
