When more important matters die down, I will have more to say about Senator Bob Corker’s rant on Fox News last week, accusing me of making “purposeful misstatements” about his legislation that enabled President Obama to get his Iran Deal through Congress. The Senator was provoked when Fox’s Bret Baier read from a column I wrote last year.

Samsung Electronics had 26 false reports from consumers alleging that their Galaxy Note 7 caught fire since its recall announcement earlier this month, the company has said. Out of the 26 reports, the South Korean tech giant said that in 12 cases they found no fault with the devices. In seven cases, the reported victim could not be reached and in another seven incidents, the consumer cancelled the report or alleged that they threw away the device.

Swedish telecoms giant Ericsson is planning to end all of its manufacturing in the country, according to a report in newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (SvD). Part of a savings plan detailed on an internal document which SvD gained access to, the decision would mean that 3,000 employees lose their jobs following the closure of Ericsson’s last manufacturing plants in Sweden, in Borås and Kumla. In the document, Ericsson’s leadership are said to have stated that “We will end a 140-year-old manufacturing period, which represents the biggest cuts of employees in Sweden ever”.
