This guy is the reason we need term limits. After “40 years in the business”, he hasn’t learned a thing.

This guy isn’t qualified to teach a high school civics class.

I pity the folks in Ohio being represented by him. That was truly a sorry display for a US Senator.

    Semper Fi, Sir

Now, that is leadership, which is a foreign word for our “elected” officials.

This idiot couldn't’t lead a troop of Girl Scouts across the street to 7-11.

How the Democrats elected this guy to be Senate Majority Leader is beyond my intellect. But, I guess it does speak volumes about their party.

Probably right. When I got done with TBS, 18 of us went to Ft. Sill for Arty school. It was a joint USMC/Army school. I could go on all day about the differences in the the branches.

One item really stands out. When we got there, that CG asked if we would help out as “coaches” on the rifle range. As you know, we qualified at 200, 300 and 500 yards. So, we thought it might be fun and we could probably send a few rounds down range in the process.

So, we show up to the range to help the Army Lt’s. The shock is they qualify at the 50 “meter” line with a scale target to replicate a much longer shot. They even got a ribbon for it. It was an “eye” opener those 6 months at that school.

Thankfully, we had a full bird USMC Col as well as a handful of Captains who were instructors. They made sure things stayed tight if you get my drift.

Interesting, for what it’s worth I went through OCS in 1987. Only 48% of us graduated to “Butter Bar” status, the rest went home. That’s the way it’s always worked.

With that said, I’m a little surprised that some won’t be recycled in the enlisted ranks if only one obstacle is missed/failed.

You’re spot on. To know where I’m coming form, I’m a USMC Cap’t and combat vet but no longer on active duty. I do currently live in Littleton which has been more conservative than liberal. With all that said, I have been looking at current poles run by our local media outlets regarding the “controversy”.

In effect, the poles I have seen and voted in today look to be 20%-25% against to 75-80% for the monument. To say it has split the community is a gross over statement but I expect nothing less from those who rely soley on local papers or the MSM to help guide their opinions. Ironically, those polls are currrently being taken by the aformentioned media outlets and I assume (probably rightly so) the results will not be top of the fold or at the top of the news hour.

Don't know where you got that bit of information but it's completely wrong! All officers go through the equivalent of Boot Camp. It's run by the same salty drill instructors. The difference is, they try to make you quit, kick you out, etc. given the fact the Corps is so small, there is a good chance they may serve with you at some point.

When I went trhrough in 1987, 48% of my class actually made it to graduation and thus, commissioning. We slept an average of 3-4 hours per night (unlike "boot camp"). Believe me when I say, there was no free pass there.

From there, all officers go to TBS (the basic school) and learn leadership, infantry tactics, etc. It's six months long. Upon graduation, depending on your class standing, you are assigned an MOS. Then, you're on to your MOS school. By the time you hit the fleet, you have considerable time in. Believe me when I say I have been to joint school commands and it was very surprising how "green" some other branch officers were.

The last thing I will note is how we treat the enlisted. Unlike being on board ship and in the mess room where the enlisted serve dinner to the officers, we pretty much do the opposite. When in the field, the youngest Marines in terms of rank eat first followed by the more senior. If your an officer, there is a good chance you don't get any hot chow when it comes to the field. If there's nothing left, then you're SOL. With that said, I always dug my own foxholes, everyone is there to d otheir job, not wait on the officers. And yes, I did 8 months in Desert Shield as well as a couple other "areas" so I think I'm talking from experience as well as from a combat arms positon in the field.
  • Denver Broncos' Darrent Williams (CB) gunned down

Crosslink, what you said is pretty much what I was told by a buddy who is a LEO in Denver and was on duty last night.

Apparently, someone started giving the Bronco players a hard time at the Kenyon Martin/NBA/Nugget's party about loosing the game. It escalated. Derrant Williams really wasn't involved. In fact, he left the bar area when words started flying.

The party was in fact private as well so it wasn't some random club issue.

Lastly, the LEO's did in fact think they would get the shooter sooner rather than later as someone in the hummer knew who the shooter/s was/were.

Darrent Williams was a good guy to boot. The Broncos have never been a team that lets "trouble makers" hang around too long. Case in point, this is why I think Clinton Portis was traded. This is also the type of incident I would have expected to see him involved in somehow.

As for Javon Walker being in the car, he was but I never heard about Darrent dying in his arms. He was shot in the neck and it was explained to me that he did die instantly.

    May he Rest In Peace.

I've been a long timne reader but never registered. Great site by the way. In any event, this Kerry thing has gotten to me and it time to put in my 2 cents. Just sent this email to Mr. Wonderful:

As a USMC combat vet in Iraq, a Captain, (with a BA and an MBA) I find your comments very offensive. However, I have learned not to expect anything nearing a competent intellect from you given your congressional speech following your "long" tour in Vietnam and Cambodia, LOL. The California speech yesterday just serves to reinforce what was already known by many.

In short, you just don't get it. In terms of your military service as an officer, you clearly missed the class regarding integrity and personal responsibility. You made a mistake and yet you can't find the personal courage to admit it. That is why you can never be trusted with a position in the White House acting as our Commander In Chief. With that said, I do very much appreciate you speaking for your party. It is very enlightening to those who may have missed anything to date.
