My wife is a teacher in Dayton. The Meadowdale High School and Elementary school are preparing for a Phelps protest on Monday. No one seems to know why, but they are preparing for it.

John P. Pryor, 42, of Moorestown, the dedicated leader of the University of Pennsylvania's trauma team and a decorated major in the Army Reserve who wrote eloquently about the painful parallels between battlefield deaths and urban homicides, was killed on Christmas by enemy fire in Iraq while serving as a combat surgeon. Dr. Pryor deployed Dec. 6 and was with a risky frontline surgical unit when he was killed by shrapnel from a mortar round. It was his second tour of duty in Iraq.

My son wrote this and I thought you would like it. Independent Palin and Republicans Befuddle Codependent Democrats I have watched with HIGH interest the last few days as one of the most independent thinking women of our time has come to light as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the republican party. I sat and watched her speech with great interest and sometimes awe, because she was well spoken, honest, down to earth, and stuck her chin out like a 20 year Marine Drill Sgt. I was completely baffled by the press and the democrats desire to trash her even before...

I received the following response today from Sen. DeWine about his vote on ANWR. January 10, 2006 Dear Richard: Over the past several months, a healthy debate has occurred in our country about drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). I appreciated knowing your views on this important issue. As you know, after a great deal of thought, I voted against drilling in the ANWR. I thought the risks outweighed the potential benefits. The United States will never be petroleum independent-we simply do not have the oil. Department of Energy (DOE) figures show that we are currently...

A guy has taken the time to write this all down. Finally, the guys' side in perspective... with some humor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Men always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! Please note... these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE! 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the...

I just watched a program on the Military Channel called "In the Shadow of the Blade." What a great tribute to the dust off crews and our vets. It will show again and I highly recommend it. It follows some of the crews flying a Huey around the states reuniting with people they had saved and families of those they were unable to save. I am truly humbled by the courage and bravery of our Viet Nam vets. May God bless you all. One story was exceptional as it showed a nurse to whom our soldiers brought a tiny baby...

Thank you for contacting your AARP headquarters about proposals to divert Social Security payroll taxes to private accounts. It is always a pleasure to respond to a member. These proposals are sometimes called Social Security "privatization," which means that parts of the current public program are moved to private management. Like you, AARP is concerned that Americans reach retirement with adequate income. Ideally, our retirement security should be supported by four pillars: Social Security, pensions and savings, earnings, and health insurance. But for too many individuals, some of those pillars are weak and unsteady. The largest portion of retirement income...

I really hate to ask a question, but I could use some help from you Firefox experts. Just tonight my Firefox browser stopped opening URLs from FR. It stopped them as popups. I changed popup preferences to always allow www.freerepublic.com. It made no difference. It was working just fine this afternoon. IE still works properly. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A former Texas Air National Guard official who served at the same time as President Bush says he believes the bigger story about gaps in Bush's service is being overlooked in disputes over the validity of certain Guard documents. "I think the public ought to be concerned about his preferential treatment getting in and whether he satisfied his commitment to the Air Guard. Those are the two fundamental questions," said Robert Strong, the administrative officer in charge of air operations at Guard state headquarters from early 1971 until March 1972. Documents publicized last week by the...

I got to meet my first congressman today. I ran into congressman Mike Turner (R) of Ohio today in the Golden Corral. I was able to ask him to stand fast behind the President and that we cannot afford Kerry. He was very nice and thanked me for the encouragement. This is no biggie, but at least I got to say something I knew for certain a politician would hear.

My church is honoring vets on Sunday. I have seen a couple of good videos honoring vets on FR, but I have no sources. Does anyone know of a good short video honoring our service members? I would really appreciate your help on this. Thanks

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) SEN. JOHN KERRY (D-MA), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: It will not be like Vietnam (search), and I will get our troops home from Iraq with honor. We're not going to be engaged in an active kind of death zone the way we are today. (END VIDEO CLIP) BRIT HUME, HOST: John Kerry (search) is not the only one talking about getting out of Iraq. The op-ed pages and the political talk shows this week in Washington are full of talk of defeat and failure in Iraq. What would that mean? For answers we turn to Fox News contributor Mark...

Previously secret sworn statements by detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq describe in raw detail abuse that goes well beyond what has been made public, adding allegations of prisoners being ridden like animals, sexually fondled by female soldiers and forced to retrieve their food from toilets.

COMMENTARY Teen party video raises moral, ethical questions By Mary McCarty Dayton Daily News "Did she do the right thing?" After all the buzz surrounding the infamous Bellbrook videotape — which recorded underage drinking and drug use during a five-day series of parties in November — it boils down to this one question. Nearly everybody agrees that drinking and drug use are a problem at Bellbrook High School, as they are at nearly every American high school. Nearly everybody agrees that it's not a new problem. What's different about this case, what has made it the talk of the town...

Gifts for theft victim roll in BY MARY JANE SHORT AVALANCHE-JOURNAL Robert McDonald will soon have a new set of wheels and more, thanks to an outpouring of generosity from people as far away as New Mexico who wanted to see his independence restored. My prefrences are set to download 250 posts at a time. For the past several days, I can only download 25 at a time. I emailed JimRob, but I suppose he was too busy to check it out [absolutely no sarcasm intended]. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have a solution. I apologize for the vanity, but where else can one go for help on FR except to Freepers? Thanks in advance.
