to My Favorite Headache
These are the times that try men's souls!
My e-mail to the president:
Mr. President,
I am a resident of Texas and could be counted among your strongest supporters.
I have admired and respected you from the beginning for your uncompromising stands on important issues both national and international.
However, at this point, the constant delays, and apparent appeasement of the French and Germans is beginning to erode my confidence (as well as that of other conservative republicans that I know) in your ability to stand up for, and protect, the vital interests of this country.
You need to set your own deadline and cease worrying about the UN. They are less than
concerned about what is right than about their own financial and power base interests. I also worry about the delay costing the lives of more of our soldiers than would otherwise be the case.
If you knuckle under to "World Opinion" at the cost of being right and we suffer terrorist attacks here at home, you will have destroyed everything you and the great conservative Middle America have worked for so long.
We are so close. If you stand strong, we have everything to gain both now and in the
future. If you do not go the distance, it will be a generation, if ever, before we have this chance again.
We are behind you, do not let us down at this late hour!
