I just returned from Michigan, where I had the honor of speaking at Americans for Prosperity’s “Defending the Dream” state summit. Among the other speakers were Stephen Moore of The Wall Street Journal, Justice Robert Young of the Michigan Supreme Court, and Governor Sarah Palin. I spoke on a panel entitled, “Alinsky: Turning Liberal Tactics into Conservative Victories.” Joining me was James Muffett of Citizens for Traditional Values, a group that I hope we can work with in the future. I was pleasantly surprised that the crowd (well over a thousand at the summit and a packed room of hundreds...

Some anticipate that several states are playing watch and see with the Arizonan immigration bill, and if successful, that other states will aim to pass one similar to it. But nobody guessed the dominoes would start falling this quickly, as first Texas and now Missouri are considering whether to pass similar measures. While many of the usual suspects are throwing the same fit that we saw in Arizona, others in the state are making reasoned arguments that show why the citizens of Missouri benefit most from a sound immigration policy...

Our honorary chairman Tom Tancredo joins us to talk about his role in the tea parties, the turbulent political situation in Arizona, John McCain's temper, and his return to the University of North Carolina. He also challenges Dick Armey to a debate about immigration and the future of limited government. This interview should create some headlines, so listen here first!

Providence College may be a small Catholic liberal arts school, but as the founding member of the Big East Conference, Friars Basketball is big business. The dynamics of competing in the top basketball conference in the country require recruits to be primarily chosen on the basis of their PPG rather than their SAT. Given the lily-white, suburbanite demographics of Providence College, the experiences and values of the basketball players are generally an ocean apart from the average student on campus. This gap has unfortunately manifested itself in a series of incidents that include everything from one teammate smashing another with...

Political correctness does not just infect the United States. It affects our entire Western family. An extreme, though revealing story out of New Zealand today. Two friends, a white man and a black man, saw some immigration officers outside their office. The white man jokingly said to his friend, "You'd better hide." A trifle indelicate perhaps, but like most normal people, the black guy didn't care and interpreted this as a joke. Both men probably thought nothing of it. However, one of those insufferable busybodies that constantly feel the need to police our words and thoughts reported this deeply serious...

I'm sure you all remember being back in elementary school when the only thing cooler than Tamagotchis and POGs was trying to outdo your buddy's moose ears and KISS tongue every time the substitute teacher turns around to write something on the board. Whenever the talking heads of the Left turn Sauron's eye on the Tea Party Movement, they purport to have a similar impression. Sure, when video cameras and news reporters are around, the Tea Baggers are murmuring some nonsense about being over taxed and wanting "freedom" – whatever that means… but as soon as the cameras are switched...

Nicholas Kristof, a solidly liberal columnist for the New York Times, has an excellent piece out today discussing the situation in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe, formerly called Rhodesia, was once a prosperous country known as the ‘breadbasket of Africa.’ The country is now starving and dependent on foreign aid for bare survival. Nicholas Kristof’s analysis of the situation in Zimbabwe and South Africa breaks that of most liberals (and even many so called ‘conservatives’) because he has actually gone there to see the situation on the ground...

Boise State University is located in the capital city of Idaho, perhaps the least Blue state in the United States. However, in recent months our school has been host to a controversy stemming from the prejudicial Facebook posts of our Cultural Center Coordinator. Deciding to take The Leadership Institute’s Deep Blue Campus research initiative, an investigation by the Boise State chapter of the Youth for Western Civilization found that out of $8333 in donations to political parties by individuals who work for Boise State University, a staggering 94 percent went to the Democratic Party...

American Thinker has an article worth reading about the Obama administration's involvement in Fisher v. University of Texas. The plaintiffs in the case are two White students who claim they were denied admission to the university on the basis of race. The University of Texas does use race as a factor in admissions: 1/4th of each entering class is admitted on the basis of racial factors. The Obama Justice Department has filed a brief against the two White students...

Supporters of an amnesty for illegal aliens are desperately scrounging for another Republican backer in addition to liberal Republican Lindsay Graham. With Republicans holding 41 seats in the Senate, plus several working class Democrats who will vote against an amnesty, another Republican backer is needed to make the amnesty appear ‘bipartisan.’ Even Graham appears to be reluctant to be the lone Republican supporter of the bill. "I urge the President to write a bill and see if he can get another Republican, see if he can convince the 16 Democrats who voted no the last time," he said during a...

Whether or not you are Christian, I believe that honoring the traditions of those who came before us remains an important component to being a true Conservative. That said, today is the most important day in all of Christendom. It is Good Friday, the day of commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, God come in the flesh of a mere man to atone for the sins of the elect. Today will be a day marked by the most solemn of all church services throughout the Christian year. As a Christian, this day of commemoration gives me great pause to...

Mayor Lou Barletta, the rare elected official who actually seems to care about his constituents and his country, is speaking out about a class called “War in Hazelton” at Temple University. Professor Lori Zott has formed a multi-disciplinary class which looks at the immigration battle in Hazelton, Pennsylvania -- from a multicultural perspective of course. Judging from the syllabus, the class hammers away with the usual brain dead narratives – but includes some heretical ideas at the end, for those who want to hear it. The class syllabus begins with the inevitable poem from Emma Lazarus, which unfortunately for America...

The British government has spent millions of pounds on its "Prevent" strategy of thwarting the spread of Islamic fundamentalism in the UK. Yesterday, the Communities and Local Government Select Committee warned that the effort could be backfiring. The "Prevent" programme was set up in 2005 after the 7/7 London bombings. It aimed to stop the radicalization of British Muslims by providing a "counter-narrative" to that of Al Qaida. In practice, this inept government effort to create the "moderate Islam" so desired by guilt ridden Western liberals became a cash cow that subsidized the prosleytization of Isiam in Britain. It hasn't...

Walter Rodgers has a really good article in the Christian Science Monitor about illegal immigration from Latin America. There is nothing much I can add to this. I recommend you click the link and read this one yourself. He starts the piece with an arresting anecdote: Walking the sandy beachfront in this ultra-affluent city, I chanced upon two Hispanic men rummaging through the trash. Startled at the sight, I stared momentarily. One of them yelled at me, “You look now, but in 50 years we will own all this!” Given the tsunami of illegal immigration and the prolific Hispanic birthrate,...

After years of leftist advancement across the political landscape of Europe, a phenomenon is happening: the traditionalist conservative/right wing forces are recapturing lost ground and giving us a glimpse into the future of European survival. Yesterday in Italy, Lega Nord, the right-wing patriotic movement of Italy, became a force to be reckoned with in Berlusconi’s right-wing coalition government. In the local elections across Italy, the right wing parties threw the left in retreat, despite the economically difficult times in Italy. Times are now very hopeful for the conservative/right movement. Europe is ripe for the picking. 2008 was the year that...

In this video, I analyze the recent March on America in the second installment of Western Resistance Radio. I cover the prospect of amnesty and what it might mean for our national identity as well as the electoral and political ramifications of such a sweeping naturalization. Finally, I discuss Dick Armey's efforts to marginalize Congressman Tancredo in the former's quixotic quest to garner the mythical conservative Hispanic vote. http://vimeo.com/10411178

Solving the problems of illegal immigration and securing the border do not appear to be on the top of the Department of Homeland Security’s list. The Secure Border Initiative (SBInet), a program developed by Boeing, was designed to incorporate new with existing technology to help federal agents better detect illegal crossings, drug smugglers, and other criminal activity at the border. When the Recovery Act was divvied out by the Obama Administration, the Secure Border Initiative was to receive $50 million to continue to pay for the project. However, Janet Napolitano declared that this allocation from the Recovery Act would be...

The Texas Board of Education has adopted curriculum reforms designed to counteract liberal bias in the educational system. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Democratic members of the Board objected to the curriculum reforms for not focusing enough on subjects key to political correctness indoctrination: Ken Mercer, R-San Antonio, said the proposed standards reflect the desires of his constituents to emphasize “personal responsibility and accountability” and “to honor our Founding Fathers, and our military.” Mary Helen Berlanga, D-Corpus Christi, said the standards ignore the Ku Klux Klan in Texas, Texas Rangers “killing Mexican-Americans without justification” and the U.S. Army's role...
