I am not only a native Texan, but a several generations-back Texan. I’m not only proud of my governor, but I defy anyone to put up THEIR choice and be willing to accept the same standards for criticism.

Conservatives (including some Freepers) are VERY good at destroying anything imperfect. Libs are VERY good at coalescing around a candidate;despite some of their less desirable traits.

    So, we lose. They win.

But we sure showed the GOPe, didn’t we?

    Nope.

    Not impressed, yet.

Of course, most people don’t impress me. They do what they do...I do what I do.

What’s to be impressed about? That someone writes words that some other person repeats?

    Really?

"...By the way, you established the border was too big to secure, then denied saying it repeatedly..."

BTW, prove that and I'll admit it.

If you can't prove that (with my own words), you'll admit it.

    Deal?

Describing the size of it ain't saying it can't be fenced/bordered.

You need to demonstrate that I said it can't be done.

    Oops...you can't.

All you can demonstrate is what I said: It's big, and I want to see those telling Texans what they should do to kick in and offer some help.

Guess what? You're either confused or lying on purpose.

    Pick one and prove it.

So, do you believe that I ought to pay for stuff you want???!! You want to tell me and other Texans how we ought to act? How about you do a little research on what we’re already doing? How much we’ve already spent?

Before they do that, why don’t they quit their jobs and drive their cute little asses down here and do their part?

Or demonstrate how THEIR state has contributed to the protection of our NATIONAL border?

Or maybe, just maybe, act a little thankful for what Texas taxpayers ARE doing to try to stem the tide...sans Washington, DC.

    Maybe that.

Perry’s not perfect. Texas isn’t perfect. But there’s no other state in the Union dealing with this issue at the magnitude we are.

    Bullshit.

    And you have comprehension issues.

I didn’t say it’s too hard. I asked what you and your state are doing to help.

As to the “millions” that are pouring in...What part of the law do you not understand?

It is illegal to refuse them care. The feds made it that way.

What would YOU, in your infinite wisdom, have happen? Want everyone to go to jail by defying the US government?

Quick question, gunslinger: Do you do that? Do you disobey the law when you disagree with it? Are you willing to go to prison over your personal principles?

    If so, please provide examples.

You have wandered astray. If you read my original post, I said nothing about Perry being perfect or the impossibility of securing the border.

I spoke of exactly what you’re doing: Blaming Texas and not offering anything yourself to help solve the problem.

When...you have no idea of what’s going on down here at all.

    Thanks for making my point.

How about you deal with my questions?

    Where do you live, Sand88?

What are YOU and your state doing about it?

Are you going to write checks to fund the efforts you tell Texans they should do?

    “...Talk, talk, talk, talk,...”, etc.

Hmmm... Unless you can demonstrate otherwise, it looks like that’s all you do.

Sort of Alinsky-ish...accuse others of that which you do yourself.

I’m here, brother. On the border. I see it, work it, hunt it, etc.

A wise man once said, “You have no right to bitch if you’re not willing to do something about it.”

    No.

    You are slow, maybe.

    What I am saying is

    Don’t

    Lay it all off on

    Texans

    If

    You’re

    Not

    Doing

    Anything

    To

    Help.

    Clear?

This isn’t all that hard. Why are people not getting it?

    It’s elementary English and logic.

I’m not saying the border’s too big. I’m saying folks like you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

You don’t know the canyons or the deserts, etc. You give Texas sh*t when we talk about “strategic fencing”. And youdon’t have the foggiest idea about what we mean.

You want Texans to pay for all of this...the NG, the closure of the border, etc...you want Texans to deport the illegals...and then, as a conservative, you bitch at people who live on the dole. When that’s EXACTLY what you want to do...get someone else to pay for/do what you benefit from.

How do you not see that?

    Oh, stop it.

“Marxist”, “very weak man”, “contemptible leader”.

    Grow a pair.

How about you tell us Texans what you’ve done to stop it? How about you show us by your actions and/or your state’s actions/investment what you’re doing to stop it?

How about you describe what it’d be like without the investment Texans have already made to try to impinge/interdict this issue?

You just want Texas taxpayers to pay for this? You expect to sit in whatever state you’re in and get US to tote the whole note?!

Seriously? Is your state deporting the illegals that are there? If not, why not?

Oh! It’s illegal for your state to deport ‘em. You don’t have the power. Why is Texas different?

You want us to bring in the NG? Are you gonna pay for it? Or do you just want us to do it?

Quit telling Texas/Texans how to fix things and instead try to contribute. Tell us how you’d like to help. How much do you personally want to kick in to help pay for this?

I’m not saying it’s not important and shouldn’t be addressed (re-read that before you respond), but quit asking Texas/Texans to tote the whole note. Get your ass down here and help. Or get your state to kick in some of THEIR NG.

After all, it’s a national problem...right? We ALL suffer, right?

Quit your bitching and do something.

One: I’m not making excuses for Perry. Re-read my original post.

Two: Yes, thousands are crossing every day. Texas has 2/3 of the border with Mexico...we’re gonna get most of them.

Three: You say “Nothing Perry has done has impeded this in the slightest”. I’d like to see you prove that. Show me what it would be like WITHOUT what Texas/Texans have done.

Four: My post wasn’t a defense. Read it objectively. It SAYS that it’s a national problem, but it’s on our border and that those who want to criticize because of the threat to our country ought to evaluate how much THEY and their state are doing/offering Texas/Texans to help.

Most of my original post is in standard English and is easily understood and just states some facts and asks a few questions.

Why the rancor? Do you somehow think that I am pro-illegal?

What is your answer and what is your and/or your state’s contribution? I’m just talking about the way it is and asking for people to try to work with us and quit laying it all on Texas with no regard.

BTW, you do know that it is illegal for Texas to deport illegals, right? That’s a federal task and they’re releasing many directly into the US?

No? Then how about a little appreciation.

No? Then, I’d appreciate it if you’d shut the hell up.

There’s a lot of yelling that Perry/Texas should “do something” about the border.

I’m SURE that everyone doing the hollering understands the border.

I’m SURE that they understand that the Texas/Mexico border is 1241 miles long...2.5 - 3 times as long as California, Arizona and New Mexico COMBINED.

I’m SURE that they understand that the Texas/Mexico border is longer that it is from New York City to Topeka, Kansas...or from Jacksonville, Florida to Midland, TX.

I’m SURE that they understand the Santa Elena canyon...where 75 yards separates Texas and Mexico and where 1500’ cliffs are on the opposite sides of the Rio Grande. The Rio Grande that you could wade without getting your knees wet most of the year.

I’m SURE they’ve been there and seen the Chihuahuan Desert and understand the futility of fencing it.

I’m SURE their states have offered Texas some of their own funds and manpower to help seal the border.

I’m SURE they’ve read up and studied on the increased DPS/Texas Ranger presence ordered to the border by Perry/Texas.

I’m SURE they’ve viewed the videos about the air and water equipment on the Texas border....paid for by Texans.

Know what? I’m getting a little tired of people who haven’t been here, haven’t lived here and don’t know anything but what they read/believe casting aspersions on Texans about what we SHOULD be doing, NEED to do, etc.

    Maybe that.

    I am a Private Investigator.

Although it’s true that they can be used to do things that couldn’t be done previously, their use is questionable in many circumstances.

The “Expectation of Privacy” will make many “from the air” videos, etc. inadmissible and, in some cases, illegal.

If it was that easy, I’d have me several of them.

I use several different things, varying on my mood.

    1. Proraso Eucalyptus/menthol cream
    2. Proraso Sandalwood cream
    3. Arko stick
    4. Musgo cream
    5. Tabac soap (puck)

I also use Cremo, but I use it as a “pre-shave”. I put it on and then apply a lather on top of it. It seems to slick things up some.

    Thanks for the reply.

The dude seems to have something going on.

I’m gonna see if the edges are as sharp as presented.

If so, I’m doing all of my knives, as well as my razors.

I like me a sharp edge.

Does anyone have any experience with “Dr. Matt” - from Youtube fame (drmatt357)?

He uses a little unorthodox sharpening method to (purportedly) get an extremely sharp edge on straight razors. For example:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRMu-WEaFNE

His videos are very interesting and he shows the whole process.

The bits I’ve watched indicate that the level of sharpness is unsurpassed. I’m interested in learning how to hone, etc. my own stuff and what he has to say is intriguing.

I’ll tell you this: it may not be the easiest way to do it, but like the poster upthread said, it’s a man’s bubble bath. It’s relaxing, it’s therapeutic and it gives one a sense of pride in their grooming.

I recommend either safety razor or straight razor shaving.

    Thanks for your comment.

Apparently you ladies have some opinions about this.

And isn’t that what it’s about? I’m definitely not looking for convenience or speed.

It’s about the experience. Now, shaving is an experience...a “luxury”. Not a chore to get through.

And I copy that on “solid footing”.
