“Have you seen the ‘what day is it? TRUMP Day’ meme that is bouncing around now?”

My daughter said some kids at school were referring to Tuesday as “Trump Tuesday”, talking about “Wall Wednesday”, and trying to come up with names for the rest of the week.

Wow, Trump’s chances are looking pretty good according to this forecast ... now at 59% chance of winning!

I am seeing they are pretty much tied as well! I am not sure where everyone is getting their numbers though. I refuse to turn on the TV to see what is being said. Praying.

I waited in the longest line I’ve ever waited in to vote today. I live in a red county in a red state. I am hoping this portends well for conservative vote turnout across the country. I can’t bear to turn on the TV tonight, just can’t handle it, but will follow along here and pray hard!

Probably not. However, if it were hypothetically a servicewoman who gave birth to a child overseas whose father was a citizen of another nation, then perhaps yes (depending on your interpretation of NBC). This scenario is more analogous to Cruz’s particular situation.

A mastectomy would never be my first choice, but I can understand the view point of women with strong genetic cancer risks. If my risks were high, and I thought this surgery would help me live longer to be there for my children, I would certainly consider it. Even a college age girl needs her mom, I believe. I am surprised by the judgmental attitude by some. No, it’s not a choice everyone should make, but may be the right choice for some.

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately, he is a U.S. citizen, and as such, should be afforded rights given to us by our Constitution. To do otherwise puts every other citizen in danger.

My winter veggie seedlings under lights have their first sets of true leaves, and have grown quite a bit. I hope to start some tomatoes, peppers, okra, herbs, flowers, and more inside within the next week or so.

This week, I have started some cool weather veggies under a grow light. I am going to direct seed the majority of these varieties later, but was getting itchy to grow something. I have tiny sprouts of Kohlrabi Purple Vienna, Orach Aurora, Red Romaine Lettuce, and Nero Di Toscana Kale.

I am not Catholic, but I am saddened to hear this. Pope Benedict is a man who wasn’t afraid to uncompromisingly stand for traditional Christian values, no matter how unpopular.

Only one week. I am going to do that this year. They certainly come up volunteer. I get as many tomatoes that way as I do from the plants I set out. they are not hybrid — I prefer heirloom most anything—”

I love heirlooms too ... mostly because I can save the seeds. I like the idea of not having to be dependent on seed companies each year. I still buy seeds to try new and different things, but I have more than enough to plant and save if I was unable to purchase new ones.

I’ve had tomato volunteers in the past as well. That might be a interesting experiment to try this year ... sowing some inside under lights and direct sowing others and recording date of first tomato for each. It would be interesting to see if the extra effort is really worth it. I think it is worth it for peppers. I have direct seeded peppers before and had very few by the end of season, but had a big crop from the ones I started inside last year. Of course, the pepper variety might have a lot to do with it as well.

We have been working on some new garden beds ... very excited about them! They are all built, and just need to be filled with soil.

When do most of you start seeds? I received my seeds in a few weeks ago. I would like to get started growing under lights, but will try and wait until March, at least for tomatoes. Last year, I started mid March for more tender plants, and still ended up repotting many of the plants two or three times, which made for quite a jungle inside. I tend to be conservative, and not want to plant out too soon, worrying about a late freeze. I may try planting some seedlings out a little early, with row covers for protection, and holding the rest back in case it doesn’t work out. We’ve had such warm winters the last couple of years. If this trend holds, I could definitely plant out much earlier than last year.

For any interested parties, here is a link to House Resolution 193. It has not left committee, but thought I’d give you a heads up, just in case. It has to do with the registration of saved seed with the Secretary of Agriculture. While it appears it just applies to seeds saved from patented, engineered crops, anytime the government seeks to impose registration and fees on seeds, I’m suspicious:

I’m from Missouri as well, but have nothing going garden wise currently. I am very excited to have received seeds I ordered, and hope to have a larger spring/fall garden this year, in addition to traditional summer vegetables. What kind of veggies were still growing outside for you around the holidays? Things like spinach, lettuce, kale or broccoli? In the past, I’ve had success with kohlrabi and spinach. Just curious what you’ve having the most success with outside with our recent cooler temps? Thanks.

Wow, so true. We are living in scary times. We must put our trust in God. Also, 2 Timothy 3, below, offers some prescient insight into our current situation and selfish generation:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Paul also gave encouragement later in the chapter, as well as a clue to future persecution that awaits us:

“10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

I don’t think Evangelicals stayed home. Of course, I live in Missouri, and Romney won here. I was actually surprised how many of my Christian friends and family jumped on the Romney bandwagon so quickly. I was one of the only ones to express reservations about Romney. I ended up voting for Romney, with a clear conscience, because the alternative is so sickening and unacceptable. I wanted to give my kids a fighting chance or at least get another four years to prepare for what’s coming. I am tired of having to vote for the squishy moderate, because he’ll “appeal to independents”. We’ve tried it twice, and it hasn’t worked. Perhaps the electorate is too far gone, and the takers outnumber the makers. I still wish we had gone with someone like Sarah. I would rather go down fighting with a full conservative banner flying than go down with a wimpy, half-hearted whimper. I wasn’t as emotionally invested in Romney as I was in Sarah, so it doesn’t sting as much in that way. However, I deeply grieve for our country and worry about my children’s opportunities. I am having a hard time accepting this is the “new America”. The only conclusion I can reach is we need God more than ever before. We’re going to be having a “come to Jesus meeting” soon, whether literally or figuratively.
