TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) — Three refineries, including a BP unit where a 2005 explosion killed 15 people, and a Dow Chemical plant lost electricity in outages that led to shelter-in-place emergency alerts and the cancellation of public schools Tuesday in Texas City. The source of the power outages was still being sought, emergency officials said. A second shelter-in-place alert, advising residents to stay indoors, was issued around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after a Valero refinery also lost power, Texas City Homeland Security coordinator Bruce Clawson said. A BP refinery, site of the deadly March 2005 accident that also left 170...

I heard about this organization yesterday on Mark Levin. Please support the Republican Senators who are being recalled by union thugs in Wisconsin. Your support can be moral or other (financial).

Earlier this week on Tuesday morning, the top folks at Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler hosted a breakfast for the purpose of making a big announcement. Mr. & Mrs. Louis Owen have made a cash gift to Trinity Mother Frances of $18 million for the purpose of building a seven-story, free-standing heart hospital that will be named in their honor. As I sat there listening to the presentation and looking at the artist’s renderings of the facility, slated for completion in 2012, I couldn’t help thinking that people like Louis and Peaches Owen are among the very people...

<p>Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson, who's spent a considerable number of years on television handicapping the sins of others and prophesying their destruction, owns a racehorse.</p>
<p>"I don't bet and I don't gamble," Mr. Robertson told New York Times sports reporter Bill Finley. "I just enjoy watching horses running and performing." So far, Mr. Robertson has invested $520,000 in his horse, named "Mr. Pat," after himself. The man who once said the city of Orlando would be attacked by killer tornados because Disney World held a "gay day" also bred one of his mares to a horse whose stud fee is $125,000, the reporter found.</p>

Israel_Spiritual_Symposium_Israel_Independence_Day_Pain_and_Blessings by Rabbi Emanuel Feldman Yom Ha'Atzma'ut will be rather painful this year, especially for those of us fortunate enough to live in Israel. I am not looking forward to Yom Ha'Atzma'ut this year. It will be rather painful, especially for those of us fortunate enough to live in Israel. It is not only that celebrations in the midst of a bloody battle against terrorism will make the day so difficult. Rather, it is the persistence of delusion in Israeli national life. One manifestation of this is the continuing inability of the architects of the ill-fated mirage known as...

<p>The problem is not confined to homosexual Catholic priest-predators and their institutional enablers who have so vilely betrayed children, parishioners and God. The problem is our sexual revolution run amok everywhere — sex on parade, sex outside marriage, sex as a tool, sex for sale, sex without love, and sex without boundaries.</p>

I'm concerned about the biological hazards the rescuers and City will be facing very soon, especially if it rains. Yet, I haven't heard one word about it in any of the news I've been listening to almost continuously. When the Murrah Building was bombed in Oklahoma, this was a BIG issue. Rescuers had to be protected from head to toe by clothing; and a large number of outer-ring streets were cordoned off because of the biological waste that occurred as a result of all the smashed bodies of humans. I see rescuers without face, eye, arm, and even hand protection, ...

Charismatics Have Highest Levels of 'Biblical Accuracy' Survey explodes myth that Pentecostals are theological lightweights Pentecostals are often accused of being emotional and theologically lightweight, but charismatics are "the most biblically astute people." That is the assessment of a leading Christian pollster who found widely varying religious beliefs among the 12 largest denominational groupings in the country. According to the Barna Research Group (BRG), when it comes to having biblically sound beliefs, adults who attend charismatic and nondenominational Protestant churches emerged "at the top of the continuum" -- while those attending Catholic or mainline churches ranked at the bottom. The ...

--> News Oregon, New Mexico Presidential Races Undecided November 09, 2000 BRAD CAINAssociated Press Writer PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Even as all eyes remained on Florida, ballot counters in Oregon and New Mexico were also working to establish which presidential candidate won in their states. Vice President Al Gore held a slender lead over Texas Gov. George W. Bush in both states with counting unfinished, but victories for either candidate would be largely symbolic because the states together have only a dozen electoral votes. Bush needs 24 electoral votes to reach the required 270, and Gore needs ...
