In Missouri, where the next Republican primary will take place (next Tuesday), a new poll by PPP shows Rick Santorum leading Mitt Romney by 11 percentage points — 45 to 34 percent — while Ron Paul has 13 percent support. Newt Gingrich isn’t on the ballot in Missouri, so the Show Me State offers a prime opening for Santorum to build on his earlier victory in neighboring Iowa. ...

Can We Believe Everything We've Heard About Shale Gas Newly accessible natural gas from deep shale deposits around the world has been touted as a solution to everything from oil dependence to climate change. But our actual experience with shale gas extraction is telling another story. American sugar farmers and refiners have filed a suit to stop big corn processors from marketing high-fructose corn syrup as a “natural” product equivalent to real sugar. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles by Western Sugar Cooperative, Michigan Sugar Company and C & H Sugar Company, Inc., charges that the “corn sugar” branding campaign financed by the corn refining industry’s giant companies constitutes false advertising under federal and state law. The processors’ campaign was launched as a way to thwart declining sales of high-fructose corn syrup, or “HFCS.” Companies named as defendants include Archer Daniels Midland...

IF YOU CAN’T CONVINCE THEM, CONFUSE THEM. —Harry Truman The current media debate about the benefits (or lack of harm) of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in our diet misses the obvious. The average American increased their consumption of HFCS (mostly from sugar sweetened drinks and processed food) from zero to over 60 pounds per person per year. During that time period, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes incidence has increased more than seven fold. Not perhaps the only cause, but a fact that cannot be ignored. Doubt and confusion are the currency of deception, and they sow...

... "Transnational progressives and national-security conservatives may hotly debate whether any endorsement from some international body (in particular, the U.N. Security Council) is necessary before the United States may legitimately take military action. But there should be no debating that absent a hostile invasion of our country, a forcible attack against our interests, or a clear threat against us so imminent that Americans may be harmed unless prompt action is taken, the United States should not launch combat operations without congressional approval."

Does President Obama need Congressional authorization before taking military action against Libya? Is a no-fly zone a good idea? Congressional opinion on those questions has been divided -- and not along the usual party lines.

... Trump takes aim at America’s “horrible” trade agreements, declares that the Middle East is going to explode, warns about “catastrophic” oil prices, and charges that Obama’s Afghanistan policy is “dangerous and stupid.” He also complains that the United States is a “laughing stock” throughout the world — and confirms that he is seriously considering running for president in 2012. ...

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In remarks Thursday at a meeting of the National Economists Club, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard discussed his perspective on the recent Federal Open Market Committee policy decision to pursue additional quantitative easing. In his presentation, “The U.S. Economic Situation and Recent Monetary Policy Developments,” Bullard also addressed some of the risks and criticisms of the FOMC policy decision. Bullard said that while this policy carries both risks and rewards, he believes the benefits outweigh the risks. On November 3, the FOMC announced it would purchase Treasury securities at a pace of about $75 billion per...

Press Release Federal Reserve Press Release Release Date: December 14, 2010 For immediate release Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in November confirms that the economic recovery is continuing, though at a rate that has been insufficient to bring down unemployment. Business spending on equipment and software is rising, though less rapidly than earlier in the year, while investment in nonresidential structures continues to be weak. Employers remain reluctant to add to payrolls. The...

And idea came to me last night on how to spread Christ in the middle east, espeically to closed societies such as Saudi Arabia and Iran. Why not use the postal services to mail a one page Christian letter or tract to random addresses in the middle east? The letter would have key scriptures, no doubt John 3:16 and the Roman road to salvation. It could start out with the verse from the Koran that says that muslims are to accept what was revealed through Moses and Jesus, and then go on to share some of those scriptures. 1 Or...

How many people does it take to change a light bulb in the Obama Administration? One Obama to blame the Bush administration for all darkness. One Rahm Emanual to threaten MSM not to report that a light bulb is out. One White House Spokesperson to say Fox News is not a News Organization for having reported that the light bulb is out. A team of 30 internet bloggers to deny on the internet that the light bulb is out. One terrorist Bill Ayers to write a feel good book about how Obama’s father dreamed of changing light bulbs. One Light...
