I've been reading about all the supposed problems that are going to happen on election day because of new machines, confustion, long lines, etc. I said that the media is probably playing it up because if the repubs win, they can say it was a stolen election!

    Thanks for posting this. I live in Wheeling and the host of WWVA, Steve Navotney, was talking about this yesterday. He said he was going to try to get hold of the ACLU guy to interview him on the air. If anyone gets 1170 WWVA between 3-6pm, listen to the show.

    BTW, our sheriff not only arrests these people, he also confiscates their vehicles. Steve had the Belmont Co Sheriff on the radio a couple of weeks ago (Belmont Co. is right across the Ohio River from Wheeling) and people were complaining that he was letting these illegals go. He said he was going to start doing what Burgoyne is doing.

    Hard to believe that little ol' Wheeling is having some excitement! I think if the ACLU starts any of their crap here, they are going to be slapped down hard and fast!

    Anchor Babies and Interpreting the 14th Amendment

    It is well known that a person born in the United States is an automatic citizen regardless of the mother's citizenship status. However, the United States is unusual in its offer of citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil. Only a few European countries still grant automatic citizenship at birth. The United Kingdom and Australia repealed their U.S. style policy in the 1980s after witnessing abuses similar to those plaguing the U.S. today. Why does the United States continue to allow a practice subject to widespread fraud? The answer lies in how American jurisprudence has interpreted the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

    The 14th Amendment was added to the Constitution as part of the post Civil War reforms aimed at addressing injustices to African Americans. It states that "all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States" and was crafted so that state governments could never deny citizenship to anyone born in the United States. However, when the amendment was crafted, the United States had no immigration policy, and thus the authors saw no need to state explicitly, what they believed was understood. The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude from automatic citizenship American-born persons whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. In the case of illegal aliens who are temporarily or unlawfully in the United States, because their native country has a claim of allegiance to the child, the completeness of the allegiance to the United States is impaired and logically precludes automatic citizenship.

    "Every Person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.

    I had never read anything like this before and am not really familiar with the background on how the courts interpreted the amendment. But I thought that was interesting.

    We all take it as a fact that the 14th amendment was written to give anyone born in the US automatic citizenship. I didn't realize that the "intent" of the clause may have changed. It is a shame how much US history we (myself included!) don't know. I have been interested in history since high school, but still am very ignorant even though I am always reading something!

    Anyway, just wanted to post this for discussion.

    My sister-in-law and her guy went and that was one of the things he liked about the speech. He said it was very laid-back and informal. He didn't just stand behind the podium. After the speech, callers that were there called into our local radio talk show and they all loved it. I saw him when he was here during the campaign and he is a good speaker when he is in front of your average American audience. I think he connects with us "regular folk". :-)

    I'm listening to WWVA, they are playing his speech. I got to see him when he was here during the campaign and had a great time! My sister-in-law and her boyfriend, whose son in the Army and did a tour in Iraq, got tickets, so I should get pictures.

    That is so strange that you thought of that! I was just talking about that yesterday with a coworker. Although, I said it is strange that they say the prophet mohummad and not the Savior Jesus. We also talked about how the press says "the holy city of...", too.

    I've skimmed the document and did a search for "president" and came up with this on page 84-

    After summarizing Edmond, the Court of Review emphasized hat it is the nature of the threat or emergency that took the matter beyond the realm of ordinary crime control.208 It concluded that, while the gravity of the threat alone cannot be dispositive of the reasonableness of a search under the Fourth Amendment standard, it is a critical factor in the analysis. In its view, the “programmatic purpose” of FISA, “to protect the nation against terrorists and espionage threats directed by foreign powers,” was one which, from FISA’s inception, was distinguishable from “ordinary crime control.”209

    The Court of Review also concluded that, "[e]ven without taking into account the President’s inherent constitutional authority to conduct warrantless foreign intelligence surveillance, we think the procedures and government showings required under FISA, if they do not meet the minimum Fourth Amendment warrant standards, certainly come close.”210

    Applying the balancing test that it had drawn from Keith between foreign intelligence crimes and ordinary crimes, the Court of Review held surveillances under FISA, as amended by the USA PATRIOT Act, were
    reasonable and therefore constitutional.

    They know the President's numbers are up, so they come up with some bogus poll to try to knock him down. You notice that when his numbers were low, the news were constantly reporting on his low numbers. How they always had to have at least a sentence in every news article "lowest numbers of his presidency" or something like that? When his numbers are good, they don't report it at all or come up with some stupid poll to make him look bad.

    I am starting to think there is some conspiracy going on in the media-real propaganda-treasonous propaganda. Should I put on my tinfoil hat?

    I know how you feel! I'm surprised to see that the more they bash the president, the more people rally around him. I think many people see the truth by factoring in their own experiences. I think more and more people are watching the media creating the story instead of just reporting it and are becoming disgusted.

    I think this will work in his favor. I am already hearing from some people that absolutely hated Bush during the election and didn't vote for him now having sympathy for him because of Katrina. My friend's mother, who voted for Kerry, told her that it was the state and local government's fault and the governor's (Blanco), and that she feels sorry for Bush. We had a couple of bad floods here within the past year, and we think that she sees how our state government responded with National Guard, etc., so she can do a comparison, sort of. We all knew FEMA didn't come in until way after the crisis. I think this will be played out as more and more people get the truth/facts about how the MSM really created this whole "slow federal response" story.
