Have we become a lawyer-tocracy? This question started bothering me as soon as I learned about the separation of powers clause in high school. The constitution clearly states that the powers of our government are separated into separate branches so as to negate the powers of one when opposed to the other. The Tri-camerate system seems to imply that when one branch over-excedes it's authority, it is the duty of it's check to reprimand it and tell it not to go there again. If the legislature exceeds the constition, then the supreme court over-rules them, and declares the law void. ...
