US Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) laughs after he was mistaken for Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) at the Maumee Bay Resort in Oregon, Ohio, October 14, 2008
WTF? I know his voters aren't the brightest lot, but still...
Whoops! The original draft included Ted Turner, but for the sake of a little brevity I deleted his paragraph but obviously forgot to change the intro. Either that or I was counting two Pelosis -- pre-lift, and "The Joker" that we have now. Or maybe two Gores -- the Al of today, or the post 2000 election "Sebastian Cabot's body double" Gore.
What I was more referring to is that soldiers don't come home and go around complaining to everybody about what they had to do or insist that they be thanked for it... and they certainly don't bark for the approval of the likes of Belzer.
What happens within their own ranks could, of course, differ greatly.
Something that subsequently occurred to me is that, at least among the pool of "peace at any cost" types that I know, these are often same people think everything else should be free, or at least "affordable", i.e. health care. About the only thing they think we should pay "any cost" for is peace?

Doug Powers needs to use more current and relevant references even if he is addressing stodgy old republicans.
Well, I am under 40, so I guess it didn't occur to me... let's see... I guess a modern-day equivalent to use as a comparison for Khrushchev's speeches would be... Al Gore? That's tough to make work, though. Hey, at least you got it... besides, jokes that everybody gets are no fun, eh?

I sort of wrote the title as a rhetorical question, but some have nonetheless tried to answer it, and it certainly is entertaining! All the posts are correct. These will be some interesting years to come.
