I'd like to find out more about this claim that America spends 50% of the world's military budget. How can that be when other countries have bigger armies, more tanks, purchase more aircraft per year, etc etc? Is it because we make purchases from North America and West Europe as opposed to Asia and East Europe?

FOR me, the nightmarish recent events in Cronulla have condensed into a recurring hallucination of red, white and blue. The national flag blurs across heads, biceps, marching standards and car bumpers, then suddenly morphs into red and black flashbacks of the Nuremberg rallies.
