Senior aides to Barack Obama accompanied four Uighur prisoners as they were flown from Guantanamo Bay to the British colony of Bermuda, without the United Kingdom (UK) being informed, it was revealed yesterday, angering the UK. In an escalating diplomatic row over the transfer of the former terrorist suspects, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussed the transfer with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband in what was said to be an uneasy conversation. Privately Whitehall officials accused America of treating Britain, with whom it is supposed to have a "special relationship," with barely disguised contempt. Remember, in February, in one...

SYDNEY: The universe's first stars blew small galaxies apart when they exploded, effectively quashing all nearby star formation, say Japanese astrophysicists. The theory, based on analytical calculations of the energy and disruptive effects of early supernovae, adds another piece to the puzzle of what the first stars were like and how they influenced galaxy formation. The first stars formed around 200 million years after the Big Bang in clumps of dark matter called dark matter haloes – the basic building blocks of galaxies. Running out of gas These stars were massive, probably 10 to 100 times bigger than the Sun....

If you have visited one of the Arab countries, you certainly have seen Arab beggars—men, women and children—blind or decrepit—crying for alms. If you have watched them, you must have been impressed by the fact that almost no Arab gives anything, not even the smallest coin, to the poor; and you may have wondered. Why do they then ask for alms? An occasional foreigner, a European or an American, who passes along the street, may drop a coin; but an Arab who begs in the precincts of a mosque visited by Arabs only will not collect enough for a loaf...

This is a great video. It shows the three aircraft orbiting over the Statue of Liberty during the Air Farce One incident. (The money shot is near the end) The "Red Tail F-16" is clearly a prop. If the George Lucas' film "Red Tails" has, as is likely, a 3D IMAX version, and this sequence were to be used as an epilogue, the camera plane would likely have an external camera mount to attach an IMAX camera. Publicity stills would have been photographed by an air combat photographer during the flight. According to this Wall Street Journal article, the camera...

On his first day in office, January 21, 2009, Obama signed Executive Order 13489. This order was entered into the Federal Register on January 26, 2009. What this executive order says, is that only the Attorney General (Eric Holder) and Council to the President, (Gregory Craig) are able to review presidential records requests and determine if they can be made public or not. (See Section 3) In other words, you aren't going to see any records or documents that Obama doesn't want you to see. It shouldn't surprise anyone that Obama's first official act was to deny access to his...

A perfect storm of idiocy led to a frightening 9/11 flashback for thousands of New Yorkers Monday when a jumbo jet and an F-16 fighter jet buzzed lower Manhattan without warning. (video -- flyby) (video -- panic) (video -- Ground Zero) A "furious" Mayor Bloomberg denounced the dunces who dreamed up the stunt. Bloomberg said, "Why the Defense Department wanted to do a photo-op right around the site of the World Trade Center catastrophe defies imagination. Poor judgment would be a nice ways to phrase it, but they did. I also think that once they had told us, we should...

The Ancient World's Longest Underground Aqueduct Roman engineers chipped an aqueduct through more than 100 kilometers of stone to connect water to cities in the ancient province of Syria. The monumental effort took more than a century, says the German researcher who discovered it. When the Romans weren't busy conquering their enemies, they loved to waste massive quantities of water, which gurgled and bubbled throughout their cities. The engineers of the empire invented standardized lead pipes, aqueducts as high as fortresses, and water mains with 15 bars (217 pounds per square inch) of pressure. Mark Steyn analyzes the postmodern mess that is Barack Obama's autobiography, Dreams From My Father HUGH HEWITT: When we’re lucky on Thursday, we start with Columnist To the World, Mark Steyn. You can read all of his writing at www.steynonline.com. Mark, good Thursday to you. MARK STEYN: Happy Thursday to you, too, Hugh. HH: Thank you. Now I know you’ve read Dreams From My Father. I don’t know if you’ve listened to it yet. Do you think looking back, it was a wise idea for Barack Obama to record this book? MS: Well, let me say first of all, about...

On Feb. 18, I warned about the ACORN civil disobedience mob working in ideological tandem with Barack Obama to bully Washington into passing a massive new foreclosure prevention/mortgage entitlement scheme. On Feb. 20, I noted that ACORN garnered nationwide media attention for breaking and entering into a foreclosed home in Baltimore at 315 South Ellwood Ave. ACORN vows to use “any means necessary” to stop foreclosures. Baltimore police have taken fingerprints at the break-in site and the current owner, William Lane, says he will sue ACORN. The home was sold in June 2008 for $192,000. This morning, ACORN official...

Slavery still stalks the American consciousness, its wounds yet festering in many hearts. If Barack Obama were to set his mind to it, he could heal much of the damage this peculiar institution wrought on our national soul. This great and tragic error that must be given justice. Obama is the best person in the world who can recognize, remember and honor the deaths of 125 million and the enslavement of tens of millions of people. His unique qualifications can be found in his names. Until he was 20 years old, he went by the first name Barry. Then he...

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the oldest and largest broadcasting company in Great Britain just recorded an interview with Dr. Orly Taitz about the Obama ineligibility cases. It will be transmitted prime time in their Russian edition tomorrow, 7-8 PM, Moscow time (4-5 PM, London time). They feel it is the case of the Century and were amazed, as to why U. S. media doesn't report it. Dr. Taitz explained, that in her opinion, most of U. S. media is in the hands of a few members of the U. S. oligarchy that find Obama convenient for their purposes and...

I was recently engaged in an exchange of emails with my buddy Fred Nerks from Oz that prompted me to revisit FactCheck.org, where the Annenberg-funded website has published a web page entitled, "The truth about Obama's birth certificate." The information on this page is 100% bovine excrement. FactCheck.org's Summary 1. "In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate..." This statement is false -- the campaign released a "Certification of Live Birth." The document presented on this website is not now and never has been a birth certificate, and FactCheck.org knows it. So why did...

Volume 2 Fall 2007 Issue 1 FOREWORD By Senator Barack Obama Law is the language of power. It is a language that helps resolve conflicts, governs the order of transactions, and distributes the rights to property and power. It is a language that describes the legitimate exercise of force by the state and defines the limits of protest against that force. Law is the language not just of courts and of contracts but of everyday life. It speaks to the constraints and commitments we accept as citizens in a nation under the rule of law. Because lawyers are trained in...

Why do citizens in democracies enthusiastically embrace a radical Islamist group that not only seeks the destruction of a fellow democracy but is overtly committed to the substitution of a world-wide Islamic caliphate (or umma) for the existing international order based on territorial nation states? Not because of compassion for the Palestinians, whose plight has never attracted genuine international interest, especially by the Arab states (and for that matter, the Palestinian leadership), whose decades of mistreatment of the Palestinians have gone virtually unnoticed. Between 1949 and 1967, Egypt and Jordan ruled the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip and the West...

The president-elect's Seattle residence in 1961. (Photo courtesy of the Washington State Archives, Puget Sound Branch, King County Assessor Property Record Card collection photograph (1937). Very little has been written about President-elect Barack Obama's mother Stanley Ann Dunham's time here in Seattle. Brief articles and even briefer accounts from schoolmates make the person who was the most influential person in Obama's life all the more intriguing. A single mother who enrolled in the University of Washington in 1961 and signed up for 1962 extension program, she likely came across many social prejudices in the predominantly all-white campus. Perhaps Ann Obama...

Solving the "Palestinian Problem" Israel's war against Hamas brings up the old quandary: What to do about the Palestinians? Western states, including Israel, need to set goals to figure out their policy toward the West Bank and Gaza. Let's first review what we know does not and cannot work: Israeli control. Neither side wishes to continue the situation that began in 1967, when the Israel Defense Forces took control of a population that is religiously, culturally, economically, and politically different and hostile. A Palestinian state. The 1993 Oslo Accords began this process but a toxic brew of anarchy, ideological extremism,...

Tehran (Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency) -- An animated piece on an earthen goblet that belongs to 5000 years ago was found in Burnt City in Sistan-Baluchistan province, southeastern Iran. On this ancient piece that can be called the first animation of the world, the artist has portrayed a goat that jumps toward a tree and eats its leaves. The earthenware found in Burnt City, one of the most developed civilizations dating back to 5000 years ago, show the images of goat and fish more than any other subject. It seems these animals were used more than any other by...

This is curious and bizarre. A reader, Jane, conducted some Google searches related to the Obamas’ Chicago home on Greenwood Avenue, and discovered the following, which I verified with my own searches, and documented with screenshots at approximately 2:30 PM ET on 12/17/08: A Google search of the Obamas’ address, 5046 Greenwood Ave., Chicago, yields this: Greenwood Ave. Search 12/17/08 The phone number listed for the address, if you can’t make it out, is 415-821-6171, a San Francisco area code. When I Google’d that phone number, this came up: Greenwood Phone Search 12/17/08 The phone number associated with the Obama’s...
