Heart attack victims in the United States are becoming younger and fatter, a new study reveals. The average age of people suffering the deadliest heart attacks fell from 64 years old to 60 years old over the past two decades, Cleveland Clinic researchers report. And obesity is now implicated in 40 percent of severe heart attacks. Heart attack sufferers are also more likely to smoke and have high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) than patients of 20 years ago, the researchers found.

WICHITA, Kan. — Ted Cruz claimed the first prize in Saturday's four-state round of Republican voting, triumphing in Kansas as front-runner Donald Trump tried to pad his delegate lead in the fractious race for president. Democrats in three states were choosing between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Count Wichita's Barb Berry among those who propelled the Texas senator to victory in Kansas, his fifth win of the nominating race. "I believe that he is a true fighter for conservatives," said Berry, a 67-year-old retired AT&T manager. As for Trump, Berry said, "he is a little too narcissistic." Saturday's GOP races...

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Donald Trump's presidential candidacy on Friday in Texas, a stunning development sure to add to the growing sense of inevitability around Trump's bid for the Republican nomination. The only question anyone was asking in the wake of the endorsement was "why"? Or, more accurately, "WHY??!?" After all, Christie had savaged Trump as unelectable just a few weeks ago. So, why the abrupt about-face?

Former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday that if he had to choose, he'd pick Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over rival Ted Cruz, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. At a lecture in Britain's House of Lords on Wednesday, Carter was asked to give his “assessment†of American politics. After talking about his own victory in the 1976 Democratic presidential caucuses, he went on to say that Trump would be a better option than Cruz. If he had to choose between them, “I think I would choose Trump, which may surprise some of you,†he said. “The reason is, Trump has proven...

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump suggested on Saturday that he would have had "less difficulty" if he had proposed barring Christians from entering the US instead of Muslims. Last December, the Republican presidential front-runner ignited a national firestorm by proposing to suspend all Muslim immigration and tourist travel into the US. "If I said that about Christians, and if I said 'banned,' I'm telling you I would have had less difficulty," Trump said Saturday. "And that's pretty sad, because we're Christians. I'm Protestant. I'm Presbyterian." Some of Trump's critics have questioned the sincerity of his faith, noting that the real-estate mogul...

After months of reflection, Donald Trump says he still doesn't regret his decision not to ask God for forgiveness for his sins. In an interview on Sunday with CNN, the Republican presidential frontrunner said that he does not regret never asking God for forgiveness, partially because he says he doesn't have much to apologize for. "I have great relationship with God. I have great relationship with the Evangelicals," Trump said in the interview before pivoting to his poll numbers among Evangelical voters. "I like to be good. I don't like to have to ask for forgiveness. And I am good....

As weeks without a budget turned into months, Republicans decided to push through a stopgap plan to get money to schools, government agencies and programs while talks on a complete budget deal continued. Again it was on party lines, again Wolf vetoed it. "I understand we have divided government," Wolf said. "What I don't understand is people who don't want to govern at all." A few days later the Republican leaders announced they would give the governor a chance to demonstrate he has the votes for tax increases through a floor vote next week, and Democrats have been scrambling to...

Former NBC newsman Tom Brokaw is apparently not a big fan of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. According to a Mediaite report, the legendary NBC newsman was at the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C., on Saturday to discuss his book, "A Lucky Life Interrupted," when he told the crowd that the idea of covering Trump was not exactly his cup of tea. "If I was at ‪NBC News right now leading with‪ Donald Trump every night, I'd call in sick," said Brokaw.

Has the Clinton counterattack against President Obama begun? The Clintons have never taken a political hit lying down. But given their weak and panicky reactions to Mr. Obama’s current, well-orchestrated hit on her — the FBI investigation into her alleged mishandling of classified material as secretary of state — they have appeared to passively absorb the escalating attack. Until now

Aug. 13, 2015, marks the 20-year anniversary of the death of Mickey Mantle, the greatest switch-hitter in baseball history. Fans remember Mantle for what he did on the field: he hit .300 or higher a remarkable 10 times, was a three-time American League MVP Award winner and seven-time World Series champion. His tape-measure home runs -- the longest of which allegedly traveled 565 feet out of Griffith Stadium in Washington -- are the stuff of legend. But those who knew Mantle remember him for more than his on-field feats. They recall a big-hearted practical jokester whose quiet courage inspired everyone...

"I can't put it into words right now. Just trying to soak it all in right now and hope that I get another opportunity," he said. "A lot of people don't even get this opportunity, so I'm very grateful." Wednesday, Morgan was pulled after two innings in his 13th start of the season for triple-A Lehigh Valley. He wasn't told he was being called up and texted his father, Wiley, saying his shoulder felt fine. That night, Wiley saw four cardinals on the back porch of the Morgans' home in Marietta, Ga. Two days later Morgan called Wiley with long-awaited...

Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez said he wasn't concerned that the team signed Tim Tebow, because the Eagles told him Tebow was just there to throw in camp. "We needed another guy to throw while Sam's (Bradford) still recovering. So that's the reason (for the signing), at least as explained to me," Sanchez said, per CSN Philadelphia. The Eagles signed Tebow on Monday. He hasn't played in the NFL since getting cut by the Patriots at the end of training camp prior to the 2013 season. He spent last year as a television analyst for the SEC Network

The Landlord's Tale; Paul Revere's Ride Listen, my children, and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year. He said to his friend, "If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light,-- One, if by land, and two, if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every...
